My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman: Ryan Reynolds (2022)
The jerk who wouldn't rehearse with Ryan...
Ryan Reynolds did one sitcom the year he arrived in Los Angeles: The John Larroquette Show.
Enough said.
Good grief.. I need 475 more characters. OK, fine. Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are perfect for each other. They both have the same sense of humor. Blake was once interviewed and the reporter asked, "You have a wedding anniversary coming up... the fifth, right? I think that's wood. Is it wood?"
Blake replied,"Oh, gee... I think every anniversary should be wood. Don't you?"
Right? The same sense of humor.
Oh, geez.. 73 characters left. So, a priest, an imam and a rabbi walk into a bar. OK, that's enough.
Beforeigners (2019)
Best locally-produced HBO series ever..
Both HBO and Netflix support local production companies to produce unique independent content. Most of it is horrible. This, however, is excellent. The reveals in the last ten minutes of the season finale are mind blowing.. in an "ahh.. of course" kind of way. Wow. What a setup.. what a satisfying payoff. Genius.
A Discovery of Witches (2018)
Unacceptable...
Why does Teresa Palmer not hold the top billing? The series is about *HER* character's coming of age. She has strong supporting cast, but they are just that... *HER* support. In the post-Weinstein era, this kinds of mistakes should no longer be made. It's unacceptable.
Lila (2014)
Moving
What a wonderful short film. The compassion of creation is manifested and captured in the expression of Alma's enchanting eyes, which seem to change colour and character from one scene to the next. This is a short film, with a simple message so filling the requisite 10 lines will be difficult. The message is simple: Art matters. It can touch you in sublime ways. I found myself gasping at the change of scene, going from a whimsical animation to the embodiment of Divine Feminine as it cuts to the mirror playfulness expressed in a closeup of her eyes.. those eyes, curling and darting with surprise, love, wonder, flirtation, joy, contentment. l'arte dell'amore. Well done.
