Suspense and heart
30 September 2021
Didn't expect much of this movie seeing the average score of 5.6 at the time before I watched it.

Yet I found a movie that was surprisingly rewarding to watch.

In terms of production, sure it missed a couple of beats. But nothing fatal really, and giving it a shot I'm happy I did.

Highly recommended if you like suspense, and a heart felt subplot to boot.

Wait until you're in the mood for it
23 September 2021
Not sure why this movie gets such bad ratings.

It is one of those movies you have to be in the mood for I guess.

I loved the lead actor and how he carries the role.

The directing is brilliant, piecing it all together, making it work.

The PACE of this movie is handled masterfully. Kudos to the script writer, and again to the director.

My favorite scene was where Cole sits opun his bed, the timelapse with the light coming through the window.

Congratulations to cast and crew and everybody involved.

Great casting all around.

Just thinking about that look Cole gives, his eyes, his mouth, it still brings me to tears over a week after I saw this film. Well done.

By movie makers, for movie makers
23 September 2020
I almost passed on this one after reading a 5 star review here. Luckily i gave it a shot, and was not dissapointed in the least.

If you are a movie maker, this is a must see.

The cinematography jumped out, casting and acting as well. Direction, sets, costumes .. all were terrific. What else can I say?

Bad review? Yada yada yada ..

IN SHORT: Great movie, as entertaining as they come. Don't listen to the noise, there's a lot to like.

LONGER REVIEW: My guess is that none of the negative reviewers of these Star War movies have any succesful movies out there released of their own making. I bet none of them can manage even a small 5 person crew, let alone take on the monstruous task of directing hundreds of artists and craftsmen and -woman, under supervision of a board of directors and producers, alongside the stress of delivering something that milions of people are waiting on to be the most life changing movie of their time. So yeah @ 1~6 star reviewers; easy job to tear it all down.

I like and respect these new movies, however flaud or Disneyfied they may be. I am not a fan of episode VIII, but that's another story. My point is that cast and crew did so many things right, and people take it all for granted. I mean: actual dolls for Yoda and Babu Frik, real locations, much less blue screen as in the prequels, some cinematic shots that are clear tributes to the original movies, our beloved BB8 - not only his persona, but it's an actual functioning robot puppet, great cast, lovable characters, that Klaud character when they enter the Falcon (Lol !!! He is on screen for maybe 3 seconds, and manages to establish itself completely) ..

Go find the 3 hour behind the scenes documentary of this movie on Youtube; you will find the missing piece of the puzzle that allows you to understand the scope of what is really going on here.

The woke agenda went over the edge again - thank God only at a diminished rate of what they did in episode VIII - but lets not spoil it because of some personal side quest. Everybody makes mistakes .. some of those mistakes are now on the big screen forever, and maybe that's a good thing because we can learn from these mistakes.

I have a few story line gripes as well, but won't get into them. They pale next to the collective effort, next to what is actually there.

I can whole heartidly give 99,5 % of the cast and crew from episode IX another go at it. In fact it is my humble opinion that it would only be just to have them craft episode X. Forget the trilogy thing for a second, it doesn't always have to be in 3's, right? I can hear some of you grumble at that, but isn't Star Wars also about change? or look at it this way: it would be 3 movies directed by J.J. so it is a trilogy in the end.

So to all cast or crew reading this: you guys did a superb job. I know many things didn't go exactly the way you thought it would, but as a fellow artist (I am a composer) your passion and craftmanship comes across. I would love to see another J.J. Abrams directed Star Wars Episode featuring you - and I am talking both cast and crew. I bet there's even more to be found in that treasury trove that you hold.

Waste of time
10 January 2020
This is a waste of time, people. I have no idea what all the fuzz is all about. And yes I know about movies and no I don't want to know more about this one than the 3 hours I lost watching it. There's decent acting though, and cinematography and colors pop. But the story is empty. Pointless. And the biggest turnoff: Tarrantino pushes his foot fetish down your throat. To avoid.

Babylon A.D. (2008)

Underrated movie !!! (extended version)
1 January 2011
I have just seen a great movie: Babylon A.D. (extended) with full blu-ray detail.

If you're into photography and grading, rough edges and detail, this one is for you.

The story is interesting and well thought out, with a nice level of "complicatedness". I could say it leaves a few - just a few - questions. But seeing it again would probably fill in the blanks.

I loved the sets, moods, landscapes and journey these 101 minutes set you back for.

The acting is very good. Vin Diesel owns the part, he's just great in what he does. Melanie Thierry is perfectly cast as well and looks absolutely stunning.

I'm almost forgetting the editing, which is very, very well done. (How could anyone cut into this well edited extended version??? Those studio execs ... fools ... haha)

To conclude, the direction is superb, leaving space for talent, beauty, feeling and details one easily would overlook in this kind of production. We're not just talking about action here, its drama as well, and it's obviously brought by someone with a good sense of refinement and detail.

I came to this movie expecting nothing, having read 2 bad reviews here. But the opposite is true. This might have been different if I had seen the shortened version, which I never plan to see because the feature I just saw was awesome and close enough to perfection in its genre.

Closer (I) (2004)

Interesting but not what it seems.
29 August 2005
Just saw this movie with a friend. It's mostly about mind and sex, and how both of these screw up relationships.

I really miss one thing throughout the whole movie: what about love?

From an intelligent point of view, people will like this. Fast dialog's, clever plot, some funny words here and there, etc... But I really do miss the most important aspect here which is LOVE itself. It is totally missing in the story. But hey, maybe that's the clue?!

And after you saw this movie, don't think about it too much. You might get into trouble yourself! It's interesting, but not what it seems.

So... unfortunately I would not recommend seeing this.
