I don't get it...

And judging by the use of a laugh track, neither did the original studio audience.

I would gladly watch a "Listen Up!" marathon than sit through one more episode of this show. Horrible decision by all parties involved to let this show air.

That's all I pretty much had to say about it, but there is a ten line minimum. So I guess here are some of the reasons why I hate this show: Not funny. A little creepy. Not funny. Not Funny and not funny. Seriously, this show just isn't funny. It seemed to make no real attempt at making me laugh.

Listen Up (2004–2005)
Wow! Horrible, horrible show.

I'm a sports guy and I watch ESPN rather regularly, including Kornheiser on PTI. I also was a HUGE Seinfeld fan. So naturally, I thought this would be a show worth watching. Boy, was I wrong. "Tony" is one of the most wimpiest characters ever created next to Screech from Saved by the Bell and Mark from Step by Step. His character and his relationship with his daughter really give parenting a bad name. This show pretty much follows the new age mantra of "don't punish your kids, listen to what they have to say" BS. In one episode, Tony punishes her daughter only to feel - you guessed it - bad about it. So he tries to find ways to reward her so he wouldn't have to go through with the punishment. My God!

It seems they are really only trying to develop two characters in this show, Tony and his daughter. The "son" has a handful of lines in each episode and is portrayed as semi-retarded or highly addicted to the wacky weed. The mother hardly says a word and seems overly passive towards her kids. If someone was walking down the street and saw this group of people together, they wouldn't think they were a family. The show hardly talks about sports (Gee, wouldn't you think that a show based on a sports writer would have something to do with sports). I give this show the rest of the season and then the Axe. Side note: The opening credits sequence....LAME. Feels like something out of the 80's.

Quintuplets (2004–2005)
What a waste of Richter's talent...
29 July 2004
I have seen a couple of episodes of this show and all I can say is, "Why? Why, Andy?"

First off, I am sick of the hot wife/below average looking husband theme that is plaguing sitcoms (According to Jim, King of Queens). Another thing that makes this show a crapbox is the writers decided that we are all a bunch of idiots. We are to believe that among a group of 5 children, WITHIN THE SAME FAMILY, each one is a bad Hollywood sterotype? Please. I would like to think that I am a little more intelligent than that. Also, the "pretty" daughter's acting is beyond horrible - but I guess that just goes to show that if you have a pretty face and a hot ssa then you can find work in Hollywood. The writing and cast is so bad that it's even bringing Richter down to their level! The only real bright spot is the one that plays Patton. At least he knows how to make he's crappy lines funny.

2/10...at it's best.

Take it for what it is...

I rented this movie for one reason. I am a fan of Ben Stiller's work. Granted, this movie wasn't one of his best, but it drew a few laughs here and there.

I am not going to pretend that I am some sort of film critic nor some angry film school student who thinks that anything with commercial appeal is crap.

The movie was average and is something that I am glad I rented. Ben was good. Jennifer was average. Hoffman was excellent (and actually drew the most laughs from me - Here comes the rain!!)

I read some of these reviews and of course there are the "Where's the message" comments. Earth to movie goers. There are some movies that are just made to get a few laughs out of you and...that's it!! Not every movie has to "have a meaning". When I rented ACP, I was looking to kick back at home and have a few laughs. ACP delivered on that expectation.

I give this movie a 3/5
