Minder: The Last Video Show (1989)
Fantastic cast...
What an amazing cast for an everyday episode of Minder.
Reassuringly predictable story as ever...
Watching the Arthur and Terry brings back a lot of good memories for those of us who grew-up in Thatcher's Britain.
I can't imagine that many TV companies could afford to give bit parts to the likes of Ray Winstone (pre bulk), Ian McShane (pre Swearengen) and Brian Blessed (pre perma-beard) these days! Admittedly Rula Lenska (then Mrs Waterman) wouldn't break the budget now (especially since celebrity big brother), same goes for Michael Troughton (aka Piers Fletcher-Dervish from the New Statesman). Both put in stirling performances however.
Good fun!
Wicker Park (2004)
Left me itching to leave the cinema...
This film demands your full attention but doesn't deserve it.
The principle character "Matthew" has no redeeming qualities that I could fathom... If the Director wanted the viewer to care about Matthew's love life for two hours it would be easier if Matthew didn't act like a wide-eyed zombie for most of the time...
Josh Hartnett is SO wooden, he should have auditioned for "Team America World Police" or the Gerry Anderson "Thunderbirds" TV series.
Diane Kruger is forgettable (if only Hartnett's character had agreed) but Rose Byrne is a believable psycho and the best thing about the film.
1/10
The Pink Panther Strikes Again (1976)
Some of the funniest scenes on film ever
The plot is not important... this film is simply a vehicle for the comic genius of Peter Sellers.
I've watched this film a dozen times over the years and I'd be happy to watch it again tonight.
I only have to think of the interrogation of the kidnapped Professor's staff and I have to grin...
I'm not a usually a fan of farce or slapsick but although elements of these genre's are touched upon here I highly recommend this film to anybody.
