Earthrise (2014)
A more 70s style sci fi film
This film is more of the 60s or 70s style sci fi movie where CGI is not the main attraction but the story and atmosphere. I would call it a sci fi drama. Go into with the expectation of watching human drama with a sci fi setting rather than the other way around.
Viral Beauty (2018)
What is a social media influencer?
An interesting and critical look at how social media can impact our lives. Social Media Influencers, what are they? Why do we give them so much hype and then gleefully bring them down the very next moment?
I really enjoyed the editing technique which switched between social media and cinematic format.
A Billion to One (2017)
Binge Worthy
This is an intriguing show that will make you want to watch episodes on end. I really enjoy the short episodic format as you can watch it while commuting( on the phone) or if you have only a short time for TV
The international multiplot story gives it a solid and engaging story arc
Spent (2017)
looking for something quirky and dark... this could be it
A really bleak dark comedy about how we handle our finances, unfaithfulness, and marriage. Slightly too long for a comedy but I enjoyed the filmmaker's love of language and fresh take on the material.
Hidden Light (2018)
A refreshing take on the murder mystery genre
A thoughtful movie about redemption with intricate nuances. It does provide a refreshing take on the murder mystery by integrating it with the criminal drug scene as the backdrop. A well-produced film with high production value for an indie film.
Broken Ceiling (2018)
A relatable workplace thriller
A relatable workplace drama that keeps you engaged. In the dog eat dog corporate world we live in this film shows the impact it will have on ones character. Will you be able to walk away from a deal?
Shot in a single location is reminded which can make the viewers feel claustrophobic at times, something which the characters are facing too. You will be rooting for the right person in this one
Purdah (2018)
We dont see women cricketers on TV
I never knew women play cricket. But I guess in cricket mad India its bound to happen. This documentary is just not about cricket, it's about being a Muslim woman in India and how being a minority they have to adapt to what is being offered to them. Well paced and beautifully shot, it shows a side of India rarely seen. Its only a wonder as to why it took me a while to hear about it.
Chasing the Win (2016)
Worth a watch, even if you are not into horse racing like myself
I'm not into horse racing but this documentary is more than that. yes, it does have some insightful information about how the industry works but for the casual viewers, it's an underdog story about how a horse overcame all odds to be a winner.
