Haven't seen it recently but I will always love this movie.

I can quote this movie from beginning to end. Ignore the ratings, it's a ten or a one, love it or meh. "Body of Binky" "I'm having a lot of fun with my drinking" "You're my first clown" Probably the most quotable movie since Airplane! For me. Is it as good as Airplane! Of course not, but 1.5 Million for a feature length film in 1991? This movie was made with so much talent and good will. Adam Sandler is Hilarious. Julie Brown, etc......

Tense, and great cast.

I was too lazy to read the comic book, but I love a good post-apocalyptic story line and so far this has not disappointed. I love that the last man Yorick is a loser, I was a loser for the better part of my adolescence and late adolescence. It doesn't mean that he won't rise to the occasion and I suspect that is what they have planned for him. Some revelation as to why he's so well suited to his fate. If he was some badass Survivor the show would be boring. The type of dystopian navel gazing the wankers on IMDb would love to see. Diane Lane is a great anchor to ground the show and is a believable reluctant leader. I love love love Agent 355, a person who needs a purpose and a complete badass. Your ex older sister Hero is also a great character. A flawed survivor who you would definitely want on your side when the shtf. And Amber Tamblyn, haven't seen her since bones but she is great as this character. I hate her. And I certainly don't mind the left-leaning bent of the show. They didn't need much help making the Right a caricature of themselves, they did after all elect a billionaire reality-tv star to the Presidency then storm the capital when they couldn't face his defeat.

Excellent movie, even better book
23 January 2021
I gave it a seven, because I won't watch anything below a seven. They did a great job with this. I loved the casting. Priyanka was great, and everyone was great. This is an important story and one of the lessons it tells us is that family can be a devastating burden, a weight around the ankles of those who desire to take flight. This happens in America, India and probably everywhere.

Amazing actors and nuanced performance.

Emmys for everyone. A brilliantly acted episode. If your politics disagree with it you will likely see past the performance. I liked it.

Great People Real Stories
23 November 2020
This was a great episode of this series. Who knew how cool and down to earth Bonnie Rotten was? And Herschel too, I would love to have a beer with him. Tera is beautiful. Jenteal seems like your typical girl nextdoor. And Christy Canyon is a stitch. For some it was a way out of a difficult youth and for others it was and is a way of life. This film did a great job of humanizing everyone they interviewed. I could totally see where these people had come from and where they had ended up and felt like I understood some of the choices they made.

Fun , great action Sequences
12 September 2020
This movie kept my attention the entire time. Mackenzie Davis is fantastic as the Terminator Terminator. The last-minute appearance Arnold Schwarzenegger is rewarding. This story is no goofier than any of the others, there will always be potholes in time travel movies. The most enjoyable thing about the movie is the action sequences. I've seen every Marvel movie in the last 10 years and Marvel movie action is so predictable, a slugfest which is so boring, watching superheroes punch each other. These fight scenes were completely chaotic and impossible to predict where they were going to end up which was so much fun. Same with the car crashes and helicopters and planes. Honestly you'd have to try to dislike this movie if you like good action.

Pretty good
6 March 2020
This show isn't bad, the story can be a bit silly but ignore most of the reviews. The actors are all excellent, except for the grandma. But the mom is awesome, watched her on Bones for years. The dad's cool, a sarcastic Gen X with a strong Cameron vibe from Ferris Bueller's Day off. I think the daughter is excellent and the chemistry between her and her brother is great. I wouldn't have even written this review if it wasn't for the revulsion I feel when I read review after review on IMDB lamenting the "political correctness" of a show or movie and this is no different. I think the characters made one mention of white privilege in the first episode and now every fragile white Supernatural fan feels the need to hop online and slam the show to express their grievance as persecuted Caucasians. Their 1 and 3 star reviews are worth exactly nothing. This show isnt bad, the writing is meh, and the actors are good.

This role was made for Whitaker
21 February 2020
I'm disappointed by some of the reviews here but I'll make my best case for the show. First of all, the music, it's excellent if you like rap music, particularly intelligent rap music. The music is fresh and not regurgitated Common tracks or Public Enemy. Second is the cast, this role has been waiting for Forest Whitaker since the quiet menace of Ghost Dog. He will be compared to James Ganfolfini as Tony Soprano but maybe that's not fair as Ganfolfini grew into the role after years of great writing. Forest Whitaker exudes that kind of hidden strength, much like Vincent D'onofrio did as Kingpin in Daredevil. D'onofrio's Italian gangster in this show is not as intense a character but he certainly comes into the role with a believable presence. Chad Palmantieri is always awesome and Paul Sorvino, it's just so nice to watch Paul Sorvino. Giancarlo Esposito is Amazing, he just chews the scenery in every shot. Nigel Thatch plays Malcolm X in a very credible and subdued way. His sympathy for Whitaker's character, Bumpy Johnson, is complex and intersting to watch develop.

If this show has one flaw it is that the female roles could do much more than they are and the show would be better for it. Antoinette Crowe's performance as Bumpy's estranged daughter from a previous relationship is Emmy worthy, really. A great character with one of the most interesting arcs in the show.

Is it perfect? No. Is it better than Power? Lord yes.

A big hearted show
10 May 2019
A lot of humor and a lot of heart, no one but Nathan Fillion could carry it off. This show reveals a different kind of policing from people with empathy. Like a typical morality tale each episode may highlight a lesson in life but I can tell they can dig a little deeper with the through lines in the plot. A lighthearted show with a few dark spots here and there to deepen the connection with the characters.

The First (2018)

Much more than it has any right to be.
21 September 2018
It started with a haunting melody, a droning theme that's become common in movies about space. Sean Penn is ripped fir this role, and he's intense. Natascha McElhone is a brilliant actress and plays the visionary with subtlety and depth, there are truly few characters on TV with such complexity, you forget she's acting. The rest of the cast is great and they devote a good amount of time developing each character to create a dynamic and believable team of space explorers. A small part played by the ubiquitous Bill Camp is great. Thee dialogue is great, clever and realistic. The writing on this show is great. The point is this show has movie caliber actors with charisma and screen presence, and excellent writing, direction, sound design, art direction, etc. If you crave something deeper than what's on TV these days, give this a try.

No dialogue, no good fights.

This movie is terrible. No dialogue, no good fights. Lots of tattooed Thai prisoners and some lady boys. Ughhh. Really no redeeming qualities.

Sharp writing and great characters
11 July 2018
I've really enjoyed this shoe and I'm a 40 year old man! This show is sharply written, dry, sarcastic and sometimes silly. It's like it was made for my sense of humor. These girls are the best of friends but they never give each other any slack and they don't miss a thing, same with the family. High function dysfunctional family. Regarding the negative reviews, I think they come in two flavors. One group doesn't really grasp the silly side of things and the other seems fixated on the political, geographical, historical "potential" of the show. I think it's safe to say it's just not their cup of tea.

Drug War (2012)

So much to like, but too much to love
13 July 2013
I really enjoyed watching this movie on many levels. Hong Lei as the captain was superb, Louis Koo was great, Michele Ye was a bit of a wind up toy throughout the movie; one tempo and no emotion. Overall the acting was good. Strangely, I was determined to enjoy the movie as an homage to many other great movies. Louis played a pretty good Verbal/Keyser. Uncle Li was our Kobayashi. The "mute" shoot out was my favorite part, giving Boondock Saints a run for their money. The climactic shootout was all too "Heat" for me. Another level on which I enjoyed the film is as an observer of Chinese and Hong Kong cinema over the years. The seemingly requisite task of towing the PRC line: Chinese police are clever, true blue and have the dedication of a Samurai. Capitalists/Titans of Industry are ruthless, frivolous, and bourgeois. Powerful drug dealers, can be anyone!! Your funny uncle, your fancy aunt, etc. And drugs are very bad. Not only will drugs probably kill you, but they won't even get you high. Really, it is an amalgamation of all drugs, causing simultaneous alertness and despondence, hypnotic sedation, tachycardia and hallucination, finishing with a lovely sense of bugs crawling all over your skin. Truly a wonder drug, it's no wonder why it is in such high demand. Lastly, I loved the Buicks, particularly when in 'Sport Mode".
