Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)
Better than Philosophers stone!
And why do I think it is? Well 4 starters, the first movie was good. I must say that the writer of the novel together with the film crew has created a marvelous world 4 wizards and witches 2 live in. But the second movie, the one about the secret chamber, it has a depth that you very seldom come across when it comes 2 "child-movies".
When Disney company would have made that little house elf Waldo (or whatever his name was) into a funny little thing with quick one-liners popping out of his mouth all the time, this movie instead shows how close it is between good and evil, and that the line between is not always so easy 2 spot.
Other things in this film can be complained about, but I'll leave it 2 someone else 2 do!
The Fisher King (1991)
Some spoilers (who cares?)
This is a beautiful portrait of to men, one who becomes insane after seing his wife get shot too death and the other one blaming himself for what happened.
There are many angles of this movie that might seem strange too the ordinary audience. But not to a Terry Gilliam fan as myself. The former Monthy Python member is a marvelous director, totally unafraid of mixing reality with fantasy, and making them blend together in a series of events that makes perfect sence.
SPOILER The scene when the mad man Parry/Harry, played by Robin Williams, followes his beloved girl, played by Amanda Plummer, through a great hall of some kind and everybody in this hall starts too dance waltz with each other, as Perry runs allong after the girl, is probably one of the most beautiful scenes I´ve ever seen. And how cool is it not when the music suddenly stoppes and everybody who just danced with somebody else in a tencion of a second becomes ordinary people in costumes, walking to their works!?!
SPOILER 2 Just thinking about the red knight. Is the red knigt a symbol for the past, always hunting Perry, always trying too catch up? When it / he finally does, Perry falls into a coma, after being forced to display the tragic event with his wife in his head again.
THE ACTORS! GREAT; GREAT; GREAT!!! Thats all you can say about this. Not only the main caracters, played by Williams and Jeff Bridges, but also the supporting actresses Plummer and Mercedes Ruehl are as good as it gets in this film. Ruehl was rewarded an Oscar for her role.
******** 8/10
Villmark (2003)
Very good, until...
This is a good movie. Not great, not that very special, but yet creepy and that is the hole idea of horror movies. The actors does a good job, just as nordic actors (actresses) always seems to do.
It is very similar to Blair witch, but it is no copy of the film, as the Swedish movie "Det Okända"! This is without hesitation better.
I hope Norway have learned from both big brothers Sweden and Denmark (when it comes to movies, that is) and follow up this quit good film with another one!
I did not like the end, it should have been much better with the alternative ending in the DVD! I voted a 6, but with the alt end, it would have been an 8!!!
