Another Round (2020)
A masterpiece
25 April 2021
I finally get why Mads Mikkelsen is so beloved. His performance in this was superb. The movie was brilliant - another masterpiece from Thomas Vibterberg.

I Ship It (2016–2019)
Such a pleasant surprise
10 March 2021
What a nice surprise! I only watched it for David Witts, and I didn't expect to like it. But it was SO sweet, and yes, cheesy AF, but it's a romcom musical. What do people expect? I'd just wish it hadn't been cancelled mid-season. I would've preferred it to actually have an ending.

Emma (2009)
Best version of Emma so far
25 February 2021
I can't believe I've never watched this version of Emma before! What a pleasant surprise I had in store. I definitely have a new favourite.

Emma. (2020)
The movie was okay, Emma herself was not
19 February 2021
Definitely my least favourite version of Emma so far. Emma herself did not have the same redeeming qualities as the previous ones have had. She was a cow, plain and simple. Not sure if it was the actress or the director's fault, probably a combination, as Anya Taylor-Joy was totally miscasted for this movie. Bill Nighy and Rupert Graves were great as always.

Robin Hood (2018)
Why do reviews even need headlines?
1 January 2021
I'm not too fond of the modern, urban dystopian take on this story, but other than that it was alright. Entertaining, though the lines that were meant to be funny really, weren't all that funny. Also not fond of the ending, as we really do not need a sequel. That's why I ended up giving six stars instead of seven.

A Delightful Surprise
31 December 2020
I'm not sure why I chose to watch this, but I'm glad I did. It had me hooked from the very first argument between the main characters. The murder mystery/detective part is not exactly Sherlock, but it's a light and fun crime show with my favourite romance trope and lots of banter, and I'm sorry to see there are only six episodes so far. I'll definitely be waiting for season two.

Happily Never After (2017 TV Movie)
Because ... Rick Cosnett! <3
28 December 2020
So, this wasn't a great movie, but the story had potential. It also wasn't Rick Cosnett at his best, but he's still drop-dead gorgeous, so who cares if he was a little off? :D

Bridgerton (2020– )
I loved every minute
26 December 2020
I loved every minute of this. I've never read the books, I had no expectations whatsoever, and I couldn't care less if it isn't historically correct. It's Jane Austen meets Gossip Girl. It's romance, drama, and schemes. If you want a documentary, go watch something else. This is great entertainment, just as it was supposed to be. Merry Christmas!

I usually like Kat Graham ...
3 December 2020
... but she had no chemistry whatsoever with the male lead in this one. I thought it was supposed to be romantic, but it wasn't. Not even cheesy romantic. Just a boring family movie.

A Pleasant Surprise
1 December 2020
I may have watched too many god-awful Hallmark Christmas movies, because I actually liked this. A lot. Yes, it was clichéd, cheesy, and cringey, but it was also sweet and funny, and it exceeded my expectations for a holiday movie by far. I loved that it wasn't so politically correct as most of them are. The whole family movie concept is getting a little tedious, and this was just so much more fun to watch. I can hardly believe that I'm giving a holiday movie 8 stars, but I was thoroughly entertained throughout the movie. I even laughed AND cried. That's ... huge.

A Christmas Wedding Date (2012 TV Movie)
Worst Christmas Movie Ever ...
23 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
... And I've watched A LOT! The lead is b*tchy all the way through. Even when she's supposed to be sweet and kind, she treats people like cr*p. The plot is messy and cringey - much more than in your usual Christmas movie. The characters have no chemistry, the "antagonist" is a caricature, and why did the leads leave a wedding party to attend their own, private dinner party? And why did her mum show up at the wedding as if something was mighty important and then ... nothing? And what about all the other horrible, horrible plot holes? And yes, I could've written this much better myself, and I'm not even a screen writer. Yikes.

Cheesiest ending ever
12 September 2020
Sweet movie, but the ending almost ruined it for me. Also, I'm all for representation, but why are LGBT+ people always portrayed as caricatures in romantic comedies?

Best drama since Downton Abbey

Absolutely loved this little gem of a show, and I can't wait for the second season (it *is* coming, right? RIGHT?!). Definitely my favourite since Downton Abbey. We need more of these!

Suits: Right-Hand Man (2018)
Season 8, Episode 1
Seems as if all they ever do is fight each other
8 March 2020
The fight for name and managing partner is getting a little old. Seems as if it's all they ever do in American law firms, based on this show. Also, the dialogue has always been a bit stiff, but it's definitely gotten worse. And why do they use each other's names so much? You don't do that in real life. I was happy to see a new season on Netflix, but I'm actually rather disappointed with the first episode.

Relatable Main Character
4 February 2020
The plot may not be that outstanding in itself, but for once a main character is so relatable to me that I find myself reasoning the exact same way with every single thing she does or says. It's incredible. :D Oh, and I'm also listening to the exact same classical pieces as used in this movie. Another reason to love it. :)

Spinning Out (2020)
A Nice Surprise
4 February 2020
I expected a lighthearted, sappy, romantic show, and instead I got a much deeper drama. I'm not bipolar (my apologies if it's *has* bipolar - in my country it's *is*), but one of my closest friends is, and from what she's told me about her experiences, and from what I've seen, the depiction in this show is relatively close to the truth. I can see from other reviews that some experience it differently, and I'm not trying to invalidate that. I'm just saying that people most likely experience it differently, because they/we are all different human beings. I do get why it can be difficult with all the stereotypes, but as someone who has to live with being degraded to a stereotype myself regularly, I also know that stereotypes are true for some of us, though not for everyone. Overall, I really liked this show. I liked all the backstories (though some seemed to come and go only to add a little extra drama), but I do feel like they're trying a little too hard with the diversity/representation of minorities. Unfortunately, it feels a little forced at times, and some minorities are represented in a rather problematic way. But hey, at least they tried.

Strange Intro - Perfect Show
8 January 2020
I absolutely love everything about this series except the weird intro. It's not enough to cost it a star, though. The actors are amazing. The amount of talent is astounding. The plot moves at a realistic rate, the characters are so sweet, realistic and sometimes very relatable, and the entire show is just so enjoyable. It's had me in tears and laughter several times, and I don't ever want it to end. Also, even the young actress portraying Minnie May is amazing. The director must be, too, and he/she is lucky to have such an amazing cast.

Christmas in Rome (2019 TV Movie)
Above average
1 January 2020
Not quite as cringey as the average Hallmark Christmas movie. Predictable and cheesy, yes, but also with better acting and actual friendship developing between the characters before the romance. I did miss a bit of romantic spark between the main characters, though. Their friendship had spark, but the romance became a little...rational instead of emotional. The cast was definitely better than average, and I liked the details about Rome. I have no idea if they were accurate, and there may have been some stereotypes I know nothing about, but as a foreigner I found the depiction of Rome really enjoyable. Hated the horse and carriage scene. That was the most cringeworthy moment of the entire movie. All in all, I found this to be one of the better cheesy Christmas movies in a long time.

Staging Christmas (2019 TV Movie)
No Chemistry
30 December 2019
I don't think I've ever seen a move with less chemistry between the leads. I have nothing positive to say about this one at all. I give it two stars, because - believe it or not - I've seen even worse movies, and I need to save the 1-star rating for those. Oh, the puppy was adorable, but that's the only positive thing about this.

Christmas at the Plaza (2019 TV Movie)
Did the intern produce this movie?
29 December 2019
I watch A LOT of cheesy Christmas movies, and this one was just SO boring. The male lead was believable enough, but the female lead sounded as if she was just. so. depressed. with. every. single. word. she. said. Annoyed the cr*p out of me. Everything she said and did was without any sort of enthusiasm AT ALL. She didn't even feel like finishing her job, just because she didn't get the help she'd expected. And the uncaring boyfriend trope is a little overused in Hallmark movies. And the ex-girlfriend swooping in and not really causing any problems, what the duck was that? Also, why do they add music before cutting the scenes? It's usually a problem with these kinds of low budget movies, but this was a really bad case. There was this one scene, in which they made the music fade out, but they didn't cut until we'd heard a split second of the next music fade in. Did they let the intern produce it? (My apologies to the intern, if this was their first try.) Nah, don't waste your time on this.

Joe's Palace (2007 TV Movie)
I enjoyed the first half
28 December 2019
The first half of this movie was really enjoyable, but then it turned a little too boring for a long while. And also predictable, which was such a shame, because it had potential to be so much more. The ending was fine, I guess, although also predictable. The acting was good, and I since I didn't know what to expect, the movie didn't disappoint. And, TBH, I didn't get distracted by my phone as usual, which is a good sign. But...I just wanted more from this movie, because it began so well, but it never came.

Let It Snow (2019)
Sweet and Christmassy
19 December 2019
It may not be Oscar-worthy, but it's sweet and much less cringe-worthy than the average, cheesy Christmas movie. The cast was much better than expected, and I was never bored. Nothing award-winning about it, but still enjoyable.

Santa Girl (2019)
Cheesy, predictable, sweet, and charming
17 December 2019
I liked this much better than I thought I would. I knew it would be cheesy and predictable, but I hadn't imagined I'd also find it sweet and charming, but I did. Sure, some of the characters are too silly and cliched, and the plot is not exactly riveting. It's full of cliches in general, but the main characters are sweet and relatively believable, and the actors are better than the usual cheesy Christmas movie cast (well, Santa and Frost aren't great, I'll admit as much). If you expect a high-class masterpiece, you'll be disappointed, but if you like cheesy feel-good movies, you should give it a watch.
