Reviews
Schitt$ Creek (2015)
Heartwarming
A show with simple premise that grows with every season. Season 5 is highly emotional, especially with anything Dan Levy does.
Static Shock (2000)
I would punch someone for talking bad about this show
Diversity, socioeconomic class issues, and a coming of age story rolled up into a cartoon. This is what I'd want my kids to see.
Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
A perfect film
Cinematography, use of color, practical effects, and every other aspect of production are incredible.
Theron and Hardy knock it out of the park. Just watch it.
La La Land (2016)
Hard Pass
Dull and lifeless, no matter how many musical numbers or bright colors you put into it.Bland performances by Gosling and (unfortunately) Stone.
Pasek & Paul have never been a top tier songwriting team, much as Hollywood wants them to be.
If you're interested in 2 hours of Seb white mansplaining jazz, I guess you'll have fun. I'm going to go watch "An American in Paris".
Tangled: The Series (2017)
This show is perfect, some people are just mean
Just wanted to say, I am enthralled with the animation, darker plots, and new characters. Cassandra and Varian are great additions to the story. I want to address bhzan's review critiquing some late first season writing. WARNING SPOILERS START NOW.
Varian becoming a villain is not out of nowhere or inconsistent. They were hinting at it all season. Varian is first introduced as "a dangerous wizard," which seems like a subversion when we discover he's a good hearted kid. Turns out, that's foreshadowing.
We see in subsequent episodes how dangerous alchemy and magic are, hinting at how dangerous he too could be. Also, people who aren't the main characters don't usually get songs, so that was a dead giveaway. Plus, he sees his dad lying to the king and gets in a moral dilemma, then later he's the one making the dubious choice to lie to the princess Rapunzel.
Varian plotting after feeling he'd been betrayed by his friends and losing his only parent is a MUCH better reason for wrongdoing than many over villains in fiction, and it's definitely not out of nowhere.
10/10 I'm a screenwriter, and I endorse this show.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider (2018)
Underwhelming
Yes, they did character work, which is great. Jonah has magically changed his entire appearance again. Lara's character model is a huge downgrade from Rise - particularly in the hair. The mud effect is cheap looking. And whoever said the ending had them "holding their breath" must have never watched a movie or played the last two games. Everything is as formulaic and predictable as possible. Also, the skill tree is a nightmare. I really wanted to like this one best... But I guess I'm just going back to the other games.
2 Broke Girls (2011)
Worst show ever
I can't last more than 30 seconds into any episode. Worst writing and acting I've ever seen.
The Big Bang Theory (2007)
One note
Every joke is how nerds are funny because they're nerds. Everyone keeps showing me episodes trying to get me to like it, but I have yet to laugh even once.
