Kayfabe (2007)
A Fantastic Film for Marks and Workers by Marks and Workers
This movie is what a wrestling comedy SHOULD BE. It knows who its audience is and it plays to them really well. Not to worry, if you aren't a fan as they explain most of the terms used in the business.
The overall plot revolves around documentary filming TCICWF, an independent fed on its final days, and the shenanigans that occur.
The main characters are "The Rocket" Randy Tyler (the top heel, or bad guy), Steve Justice (top babyface, or good guy), and Al Thompson (promoter and living legend). Of course there is a whole roster of talent, but I'll let you discover them on your own.
The "soundtrack" is also good, being provided by punk band Knucklehead. This is a subjective thing, but I believe their music works rather well as entrance themes.
The only bad thing I can say is that the one trope of the indy scene not covered in this film are the no selling high fliers. Aside from that, this is a really great movie. It never drags, the characters are fleshed out, and the soundtrack is great. This is a MUST OWN for any wrestling fan.
