Dollface (2019)
Silly fun with a quirky intelligence.
I found this show randomly and was very thrown with the cat lady. I had already been a fan of Kat D and Shay M before the series so despite some wonderings kept at it and am happy that I did. It is not for everyone but very well done if you have that tongue-in-cheek sense of humor. It's meaningful in a fun way that deals with real issues....and some fantasy issuesπ. I was pleasantly surprised by some of the actors that are part of the cast. Everyone does a great job on the acting front. The sets are fun & it's a really chill way to end a hard day. I'm not single & 44 but really enjoyed it with a glass of red and my feet up.
Only Murders in the Building (2021)
What a fantastic show! I'm not even done!
Edit: just finished season two, just gets better and better!!!!! I wrote earlier review before I finished season one. This is a high-quality show with fantastic set, lighting and wallpaperπ€£. It's extremely well written & acted, the music is great & it always keeps me guessing. It doesn't help that two of my favourite actors are the leads. Bravo! It is not a show for kids it does not have a children's rating it's for older teens and up so if anyone's upset about that they just didn't do their due diligence when it came to the rating. My new favourite show!
Sweet Tooth (2021)
Amazing, I don't understand the negative reviews!
I literally paused in the first half of episode seven of season one to say how much I love the show. It is lovely, it was written before coronavirus, it is about humanity and the story of how many people have changed for the better when the world went to pot. It has beautiful scenery. I actually thought it was filmed in Canada but it is set in New Zealand. The landscapes are not missed by the characters which adds depth. They are all dealing with pain, loss and worry. It is lovely how common ground is a great connecter and healer. Yes the whole theory is bizarre but is it really? We watch movies about aliens and robots... Why is this so strange to some people? I love the heart of the show and the growth of the characters. Is a lovely family show for kids of a certain age. This 42-year-old cried her eyes out with fear and happiness while watching it and I'm not done yet...
The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two (2020)
Not as good as the first one but I still really enjoyed it.
They were memorable moments, sweet moments and many laughs. The effects are quite amazing! I liked the first movie better this one is a little more for reaching but has a lot of excitement and I still really enjoyed it. My little guys too little for it I think but me and his dad watch to the end and giggled right through it! I really enjoyed Goldie and Kurt together!
The Christmas Chronicles (2018)
I adored it!
This movie had it all! Laughs, a little happy cry, and me smiling through most of it! It was so very well done and it was nice to see some familiar places in Toronto! I always loved Kurt Russel & he did Santa proud with this movie! π
Playmobil: The Movie (2019)
I don't know why there are so many bad reviews, it's great!
I was shocked when I saw I had a 4.3 rating. It's a really fun and fast-paced movie with a lot of laughs and the graphics are extremely well done!
The Watch (2012)
Thought it really funny!
Is it a serious movie, no! Did I laugh out loud after seeing it once years ago? Hell ya! Over and over again. Such a good cast when it comes to chemistry.
Schitt$ Creek (2015)
Top marks!
I'm watching it for the second time and love it just as much if not more. It's lovely to see how they evolve through each season & how much love there is. There is no laugh track... just excellent & exquisitely timed expressions. When Patrick sings "You're simply the best"...ugh! Level up! Just gets better and better with every episode. The relationship between David & Patrick is just what it is. So refreshing to see...no family turmoil, no drama, just everyone wanting the best for this couple. Catherine O'Hara and Eugene Levy are legends. It was so nice to hear how much everyone in the cast looked up to the and how humble and gracious they were. True Canadians! I love that it was created by Canadians, filmed in Canada and celebrated it's well deserved emmy sweep in Toronto. So proud! π¨π¦ Must watch!
Animal Kingdom (2016)
In love with this show
I love everything about this show. The depth of the characters which can only be brought out by the talent of the actors. The way "smurf" walks alone is a testament to talent. Pope's character is so complex but so well done....all of them are. So much action and storyline... Love the surfing and motocross. There's times I have to press pause let my mind chill for a moment. A very entertaining show. I am halfway through season four. Wow!
Outer Banks (2020)
2 episodes in & I really like it.
Some things are a bit over the top but I like the actors & it's a very engaging plot. There are a lot of twists & turns. I love the excitement, the unknown & the chance at solving a mystery. It's fast paced & keeps me engaged. I am on episode four.
Ruby Herring Mysteries: Silent Witness (2019)
Not very good at all.
After watching mystery 101 and loving every episode & the chemistry between the actors, this was bad. The dad & mom were super mismatched and he is way too young to play her dad. There is 19 years between them and he looks much younger. I didn't like the chemistry between the leads. He was a bit stiff.
Mystery 101: Mystery 101 (2019)
Really liking this version of Hallmark Mysteries
The acting is really good. There have been other Hallmark movies where the acting had not been as quality... I do watch the romcoms but enjoy the mystery movies more. Similar in style but nowhere as cheesy. I quite like the lead actors. They are all talented and have good chemistry. The backdrop of beautiful British Columbia adds to the quality of the show. I love the place so it evokes emotion seeing it in film. I am quite enjoying these! I always loved a good mystery. There are times were I know exactly what is going on but times I've been slightly stumped. I enjoy the guessing game. A great end of the day with a glass of wine and the fireplace on go. Bliss for the mom of a toddler. 8.5/10
Joker (2019)
Absolutely amazing
Well he deserves an Oscar for this. It's very dark so not for everyone but the acting, filming & other details were so well done. Towards the end I had to remind myself that I wasn't watching Heath Ledger... an amazing homage paid to him. I'm sure he's smiling somewhere. Obviously it's fiction but shows the progression of how this could happen & does happen to people every day, the struggles they face with funding cuts etc. I loved this movie & felt so sorry for the joker despite the horrendous things he became capable of. Bravoππ»
Bad Times at the El Royale (2018)
Loved it!
I really enjoyed this! It unfolded in such a way that you never knew what was going to happen next. Kept interest from the start. The acting was superb.
Woody Woodpecker (2017)
Awful...
The actor who plays the dad did a somewhat OK job of portraying a terribly written character. The whole movie just sucked...
The Goldbergs (2013)
Fantastic!
I was born in '78 so this was my life! The details are amazing! So well done, great actors, funny & heartwarming. Love the real story behind the show & the clips of Goldberg's real videos & family photos. Grandpa is my favourite!
Dead to Me (2019)
Phenomenal!
I love this from the moment I watched it. A lot of emotions but a dark comedy to be sure. I laughed a lot as well. The acting is superb and I love that the story has so many twists. Even though I predicted some of the events they still twisted it enough to make it original. I'm not even finished I'm on episode 10 but wow, what a great show!
The Umbrella Academy (2019)
Brilliant in every way...
The attention to detail in the sets, the background music & soundtrack, the acting & the storyline are all superb. This has to be one of my all time favourite shows. I'm trying not to rush through because it will leave me wanting more the second it ends. 4 episodes to go & It just keeps getting better. It's fantastic!
Fat Camp (2017)
Was looking for something fun, laidback & found it here.
Started slow but warned up to a silly heartwarming movie. Yes it was lewd, cheesy at times and predictable but myself and the others watching laughed often and enjoyed the message it promoted. For sure directed to an older teen crowd. A nice relaxing and enjoyable movie in my opinion!
Game Over, Man! (2018)
Silly, vulgar & fun!
I enjoy these guys in workaholics and like seeing them together as they have great chemistry. I was having a very lazy day and it was just what I needed. It's laid-back and not meant to be taken one but seriously. My whole household enjoyed it.
