The Deputy (1959)
Good Western - Bad Music
Overall, the Deputy is a pretty good Western Show.
Fonda pops in & out at the Show's beginning & end; and the formulaic Story wraps up neatly in the show's half hour .
It's nice to see Hollywood Actors star in many of the Episodes. One episode I watched featured James Colburn.
My biggest negative critique is the jazzy anachronistic Music; more suitable for the Show Peter Gunn and the pool scenes of The Beverly Hillbillies, than a Western.
Besides that, watching a few Episodes isn't too bad a way to kill an hour.
Angel and the Badman (1947)
A John Wayne Best
I don't watch Westerns, but I do watch John Wayne movies.
I watch this one whenever it's on.
It has a certain early Talkie feel to it; though made in 1947 !
It also epitomizes Wayne's advice on acting, that he once offered a younger actor- Talk low, talk slow, and don't say too much.
Enjoy this movie.
Sinister (2012)
Why are the homes always dark ?
*** May Contain Spoilers ! *** IMNSHO, the movie is pretty good, but not great. There are some creepy scenes that give you the willies, but those scenes are rare. The use of a movie camera by someone hiding in the bushes doesn't quit fit. And just where/how are the snuff films developed and put in the boxes ? My biggest peeve with the movie, is why it's always so freaking DARK in the houses ! In the middle of the day, the house interiors are PITCH DARK ! At night the family walks through the house in darkness; whatever lights may be on barely lighting anything ! The (not so) special effect becomes ANNOYING ! Deputy So-and-So reminds me too much of Officer Dewey from 'Scream' !
Demon (2013)
Watch it only if you like to watch an entire bad movie !
This movie is so bad it becomes funny after a while ! First of all you can barely hear the dialog. I have a better microphone on my older cellphone! You get the feeling that most of the lines spoken by these 3rd rate actors is made up as they go along.
The stereotype of the local sheriff is just plain bad. Apparently his department can't even afford a camera for evidence photos. No one has a cellphone w/ a camera ? As I said to my wife they must have blown their budget on matching uniform polo shirts. Not to mention the single barrel shotgun one deputy is carrying.
Be ready for quite a few scenes of their trucks lower halves and tires rolling down the dirt roads. And many over long shots that seem to be designed just to lengthen the film. The editing sucks! You'll be asking yourself 'What the heck is going n here?'
The main female FBI agent dresses like a trashy version of CSI Miami. Talk about LMEff@0 when the monster finally fully appears and it looks like a budget version of 'The Creature From the Black Lagoon' wearing camouflage pants !
All in all it's not a bad movie if you treat it AS a bad movie trying to be serious. Enjoy !
