This movie changed my life
14 April 2005
The day I was finally able to admit to myself that I was a gay man I rented this movie. That first viewing changed my life. It helped me envision a life a hoped was ahead of me. During my first year of being out I watched this movie so many times and still watch it about once a year.

The first time I saw it I thought it was one of the best movies I had ever seen. Time has dimmed my view of it but it still a must see for any newly out (newbie) gay man.

The script is well written. Some of the direction is a little off but it was a low budget film. It is also fun to see all these mainstream actors like Dean Cain, Timothy Olymphant and Andrew Keegan playing gay.

They Sold It Out
19 July 2004
Okay, if you've never seen the original versions of "The Stepford Wives" go ahead and see the remake. You'll probably enjoy it. There actually are a number of things to like. There are some very fun moments. And a great comic turn by Glen Close.

But if you have seen the original I'd advice against seeing this mess. They sold it out. I get that they made it into a comedy which is fine. The first half was very funny. But when it decided to become a "thriller" it fell apart. The tried to make you care when they whole time they've created this Willy Wonka world that is so unreal that you could never take it seriously.

Then there's the ending. I don't know that I love the ending of the original but at least it's more real than the train wreck of an ending they up on on the end of this. It is neither real nor funny.

As Nicole Kidman doesn't even hold a candle to Katherine Ross in terms of sympathy in the role of Joanna.
