From Wall Street to Bay Street (2022)
Dry but very informative
The differences between the American and Canadian financial systems have differed for generations. The pros and cons are discussed in interviews with academics and financiers.
Very Ralph (2019)
From The Bronx to Billionaire
A polished story on how a guy from The Bronx with his own sense of style beat the odds to find fame and fortune.
Even entering his 80s, Ralph himself seems amazed by how his knack for fashion could lead to such massive success.
I found the first 40 minutes or so quite interesting, then it became repetitive and overly long.
The Preppy Murder: Death in Central Park (2019)
Fatal Attraction
Robert Chambers was the proverbial 'Babe Magnet.'
Tall, dark, handsome and raised in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, he appeared on a likely trajectory to a comfortable life.
College-bound Jennifer Levin, pretty, personable and living a more normal life to the south, in Greenwich Village, hung around with the same friends as Chambers.
They hit it off and, after just another normal night out at a local club, the two headed into Central Park.
Only Chambers came out, but the police were soon knocking at his door.
This overly long 5-hour documentary spells it all out, and justice may well be served.
Absence of Malice (1981)
Whimsy - The Journalists Would Have Been Fired
Very good film, but it would never have happened.
A REAL editor/editors wouldn't have let such 'let's suppose' nonsense to be printed in the first place.
The reporter would have immediately been lectured about facts.
Any Editor worth his/her salt would have been fired for giving the green light to such copy.
I've been a reporter and editor for 30+ years, so trust me..
Wipeout (2008)
Wholesome laughs for one and all
The contestants are having fun, the three hosts are having fun, the entire film crew is surely having fun -- so one can't help but laugh along with them.
Take a break from the daily grinds of life and watch some good sports being 'wiped out' by an ever-changing series of obstacles and challenges.
I was recently at a family gathering -- ages 8 to 72 -- and all were enjoying an episode of this show. I quickly laughed along.
'Wipeout' is often in re-runs. Watch it if you can. What the heck!
JFK Declassified: Tracking Oswald (2017)
Hunting Hitler nonsense once again
The same formula as Hunting Hitler: Pick a sensational old event, launch an investigation into it, run around in circles mangling history, and then move on to something else.
They'll probably look for Big Foot in 2018.
Or Amelia Earhart.
The show is funny in an odd way.
