Le 7e round (2006)
A good sport series, not more.
The concept is pretty good because it describe the rough world of boxing in general. It is not the life of only one main person. It involves many different boxers, coaches, boxer's wives, managers and the administration of the sport. It is a sport series that resembles a lot to the "Lance et Compte" one, which tell us in that case about the world of hockey. In 7e round, none of the opponent is the typical "bad guy" that needs to be knocked down and this aspect makes the whole thing pretty realistic. Although most of the ingredients are there for a good drama, the public wants to see more of the sports itself. The first episode brings us a big fight, but the rest of them are very timid in this area. Sometimes fights that could've been amazing are just skipped or cut to a small instant. I liked the idea of informing us of the rough world behind every fight, but at one point it is too much talking and not enough fighting. I would be very surprise that viewers of this series would not be fans of boxing, so let's show them what they want. I think this series is good, but just good, that's why I rate it 7.
The Neptune Factor (1973)
Deep ocean ???
How come it is so bright in the deep ocean ? Did anybody in this movie went to high school to maybe put a little comment ? We built the nuclear bomb and walked on the moon at this time, I am sure some people did suggest a little bit of reality in this. Also the rest of the special effect, it is really taking people for kids ! They only filmed the "fishies" closer to make it look big. Is there one person in this world who would actually buy this ??? Come on, this is laziness from the director and its taking people for idiots... Imagine the producers when they saw the final product of the movie: - You really got me there, I really thought they were big fishes (in a very sarcastic way) Bottom line, the special effect completely ruined the potential of the movie for the year 1973.
