The Deer Hunter (1978)
One Of The Greatest And Unforgettable Movies Ever Made!!!!!!
First off, let me say that this movie is not for the weak at heart. It is not a movie that you get the family together on a Friday or Saturday night to watch. It takes a great deal of maturity to sit and watch this movie. This movie is a classic. If you have never seen Robert DeNiro outside of Mob Classics and Comedies, this is excellent example of how great this actor really is at his craft. He was nominated for Best Actor and he should have won. The supporting cast is just as great. Christopher Walken (King Of New York, The Rundown, Batman Returns, Catch Me If You Can, Click(playing in theaters now) won Best Supporting Oscar for his brilliant portrayal of Nick . To show prepare for his Oscar-winning role, he had a diet that consist of only rice and bananas(Can you imagine going through with that diet?. This movie also stars Meryl Streep in one of her early works. Most of the her lines in the movie was ad-libbed(lines improvised by the performer). She was nominated for Best Supprting Actress too. This movie is great all around and it is movie that you will never forget.
Love Don't Cost a Thing (2003)
Love don't cost a thing
This is a good movie. If you were ever one of those that were labeled as an outcast, a loser, a nerd, ugly, crazy, or all of the above when going to school period, you can relate to this movie. Nick Cannon did an outstanding job in his role as the so-called loser student Alvin. Christina Milian was impressive as the most beautiful girl in high school Paris Morgan. Steve Harvey did alright with little that he had to work with. I think the chemistry between Nick and Christina is wonderful and it showed here in particular when Paris went on with the deal to be Alvin's girlfriend for two weeks and in those two weeks, it became more than just a deal for her as she became attracted to Alvin.
"Love don't cost a thing" is a good movie, a realistic(if somewhat overblown, have anyone ever heard a high school team lose games because "losers" sit with all the "winners" of that high school?) look at high school and the most important message is to be yourself, and look at a person for he or she is on the inside not the outside of that person.
Diary of a Sex Addict (2001)
It could've been better
This movie could have been a decent B-movie if 3/4 of the the movie wasn't so much focusing on the sex scenes. I mean, he's a sex addict, and I'm sure that there's a lot more that goes on with sex addicts outside of having sex on a constant basis. Michael Des Barres did a good job considering what all he had to do, which wasn't much. At one point or another, one would have to laugh at him, because his character was so pitiful. Nastassja Kinski was alright in her role as the concerned sex therapist, she could've of done more though and I'm not suggesting her having sex. The person that stood out the most to me in this movie was Rosanna Arquette in her convincing role as the loving and concerned wife. There's something about beautiful inside and out that strongly appeals to me. She played that role and as you watched the movie, you start to feel bad for her.
"Diary Of A Sex Addict" while not Oscar material or a modern classic to anyone's standards, is quite informative and does a fair job in showing you how one's personal demons can take over and ruin the very things in life you think highly of.
