Ozark: A Hard Way to Go (2022)
Terrific but not a happy ending
Like many of you my favourite characters was Ruth but the truth is the ending perfectly portraits the world we live in... how governments, cartels, and corruption partner up and of course, as always, many people is wasted.
Tehran (2020)
Jewish Propaganda
In 2020, I have seen a few TV series about Jews i.e. Hunters and Unorthodox and the latest one, "Tehran", seems disappointing. I am surprised how come TV+ accepted to release it when they already raised the bar with high quality TV shows such as "Morning Show".
As an Iranian, I would continue watching it not because it's a good TV series, but I am curious to see how Iran and Iranian are depicted.
I understand it's difficult to hire good actors who can speak Farsi and English or Hebrew but personally I don't think it's necessary to have Farsi dialogues when actors's acting level is not even average witH their funny accent. I can close my eyes to a lot of inaccuracies regarding streets, clothing, etc but I don't really think building security and network security of energy sector in Iran is that poor.
Many events of the story are not accurate. I know there have been a few ugly public executions in the past years but still unsure what showing that would serve. It's not something that happens every day but they way it's shown give wrong impression. Or the harassment scene. Who does that outside of a building at night where waste collectors can possibly show up anytime.
Poor TV shows won't be hit and will be forgotten quickly. Again I'm very disappointed of TV+ streaming this one.
Skin Decision: Before and After (2020)
Pretty fun watch
I enjoyed watching the series and getting to learn about the recent technology and what could be achieved. I respect the doctors' approach to make subtle changes and set the right expectations.
Diqiu zuihou de yewan (2018)
Just an imitation of being artsy
I'm bothering to comment on this movie because I noticed some critics compared him to Tarkovsky and Wong Kar Wai. There are a few things I like to comment:
- It's not there is no plot. There is a plot but the director did all his best, by many jump cuts and flashbacks, not to give it to you and I was confused why? Is it a new form of art to have tens of flashbacks?
- Unrealistic characters and sloppy connection between them. There are many useless characters introduced to say one or more sentences and they are gone. The lady in jail, the lady who got the restaurant, two punks at the poll table. Remove them and nothing will happen. For example, the guy asks the lady in jail that why are you here. She say for many things: theft, counterfeit IDs, etc. I'm not sure what was the use of this dialogue and how the movie is impacted if remove it is removed.
- useless long shot. Why the hell I need to watch a guy biting on an apple for 3 minutes? Was that necessary to watch that long shot to know about the importance of apple in the movie?
- unnecessary use of 3D. Does the director think if the second part wasn't shot in 3D we couldn't get that's the dream.
- and many more elements (i.e. the narration, music, lighting) that their contributions to the essence and the message is not clear and straightforward.
- HORRIBLE ENGLISH SUBTITLES. It seems all dialogues were translated with a software. That is fine but please ask someone to review and correct the rubbish translation. There are many cases of using non common vocabularies in the subtitles that kill the mood and sounds funny. I am not sure if it's common to say:
