War Horse (2011)
An Epic Tale
Such a grand story, told over various places over the first world war. Starting in England, this horse against all odds makes the owner proud. The horse gets into the war, I wont say how, except that its lumpy throat time.
We see all sides of the war, from the French to the Germans and back to the British. Each side has a few characters who take special notice of this special horse.
With a massive cast including Tom Hiddleston, Benedict Cumberbatch, Eddie Marson, Bruno Ganz, David Thewlis , Emma Watson and Peter Mullan, all play their roles exceptionally well and the direction is first class, as you might expect.
If there is any downside to this film, its the heavy handed message of war and the perhaps unrealistic actions of the horse that pop up time and time again. Despite this, the overall feel is not artificial and you can easily be swept up by the range of the emotions by the dramatic plot.
An underdog story of hope, dedication and fearlessness.
Tenet (2020)
Strap on your timebelts
In a world where nothing is what it seems, we are treated time and time again. This movie delves deep into our mind and what we may think- in the past, the present and the future. Its a challenge to watch, with some massive sounds warping your perception to further muddy the waters. Its about time travel.
Should you feel like you need to watch this twice? Maybe, that depends. Did i enjoy vast amounts of the movie? Absolutely, great action, top acting from the whole cast (including accents?), a sophisticated plot and never did i feel like going to the toilet.
I suggest you go watch this for 2 reasons: first, Christopher Nolan has made another excellent film and second: challenge yourself
Why We Hate: Tribalism (2019)
No love for hate truths
This series is very good, it explores human sub conscious feeling(s) in depth - mostly negative feelings which can lead to detrimental social happenings.
In all honesty, im shocked there isn't more stuff like this which delves in the basic human feelings and how they are born.
The Dark Knight (2008)
Superhero movie? No, its a mind-blowing story from start to finish
The film itself is a clever mashup of modern genres. The acting is superb all the way through, with one notable character (guess who?). We have a hero (Batman) and we have a villain (The Joker), for me they are just vehicles to tell the story. One of which human morals, clash of instincts and then spectacular action blended with suspenseful scene, after scene-storytelling ripped with mystery and twists. The credit goes to the entire crew, who have made a modern masterpiece, albeit a sequel, none shall topple the gripping sounds, dialogue and pictures we so much want to see in cinema. I recommend seeing Batman Begins first, a terrific standalone film itself. Then prepare thyself for action, heart and excellent acting, cinematography and directing but most of all - the edge of your seat film that will not disappoint.
