Go hate somewhere else!
8 September 2016
This movie is just excellent! A great ending to a fantastic trilogy. I don't care if the book was different. I don't care if the book was thin and most of the movie's content was added and did not originally appear in the book. I haven't read the book and I don't MEAN to. The same, you hear, the same happens with MANY movies TV series and nobody complains?... I can't think of ANYTHING bad with this movie.

Go complain somewhere else you ungrateful people! Go and kiss the Twilight saga! Go and sigh with 50 shades of whatever color you want! Go action with some Marvel superheros. I don't care. Go hate somewhere ELSE! I'll stick with Peter Jackson and the Hobbit trilogy.

Stargate (1994)
8/10
A Cult Film
18 July 2016
I've had the Stargate DVD beside me for two months before I finally decided to insert it in my notebook and start watching it. The reason I had not watched it earlier were my doubts - I'm not a fan of sci-fi movies and aliens and least but not last of Roland Emmerich (since watching The Day After Tomorrow, which I didn't like at all) so I was quite certain I would be disappointed...THOUGH, this disappointment never came. And why?

The main characters: From the start I loved James Spader's and Kurt Russell's characters. Though different as they might be, it's very easy to get to like both of them. Not to mention the acting qualities of both the actors.

The ambient: Ancient Egypt, Anubis soldiers, sand and pyramids, aliens, the people in the village, strange animals, all mixed with modern- day soldiers who are entering in this ancient and fascinating world with doubts and in disbelief unawares and wary of what might be expecting them.

The story: There are no plot holes, everything is explained to an observing viewer. Not to mention the creators made a movie to an interesting theory.

The villains: They could not have chosen a better actor than Jaye Davidson to portray the main villain. A pity Jaye had chosen to leave his acting career, because as many already have said, he could have made a great deal of another great movies with his talent.

The costumes: exquisite ones, especially those of the ancient Egypt gods as Anubis and Horus and the main villain.

To conclude, it's a movie definitely worth watching, with character development, intriguing plot, lovable characters and great ambient to put the story/theory in. This movie belongs to those I could watch over and over without any fear that I might get bored. It's and always will be one of the treasures of sci-fi movies.

Dorian Gray (2009)
10/10
A Masterpiece
5 September 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Where to start? First I'd like to warn you - do NOT let yourself mislead by the rather low rating of the movie, it deserves 8 out of 10 at least. (I really can not imagine what kind of people could rate this one less than 8.)

The acting was just AWESOME! Yes, excellent and awesome. I'd really like to accentuate Colin Firth's portrayal as Lord Henry Wotton. I haven't liked Firth's acting much so far, but this has completely changed my opinion about him as an actor. Henry Wotton, the lord who teaches yet innocent Dorian how to enjoy life in bedding every woman (or man), in drinking, smoking, in being arrogant etc. Yes, Firth has captured that better than any actor would ever have.

The next excellent portrayal is from the main character himself, Dorian Gray. Ben Barnes has showed us his real TALENT, and I wish him a great acting career in future. How he portrayed Dorian was just wondrous. Dorian's changing throughout the movie from the young innocent boy, to the depraved arrogant man and at the end a suffering creature of a man, whose sins come back to him to torture him inside himself. Excellent, you could just see how the character changes, and you could see that clearly only thanks to Ben Barnes's portrayal.

The actors who portrayed the minor characters also did not disappoint, far from it. I'd like to highlight the acting of Ben Chaplin (as Basil Hallward, the painter) and Rebecca Hall (as Emily Wotton, daughter of Lord Henry Wotton).

The sceneries, surroundings, furniture, costumes, manners of the high society people were made EXACTLY to match the touch of 19th century, when the story takes place in.

It's evident from the beginning that the director Oliver Parker, producers, costume designers, music department...foreshorten, the whole crew did their job perfectly and definitely DID NOT huddle the job through.

As for the music, there is always a touch of mystery tones, every time the portrait is mentioned, that makes your skin goose flesh.

A masterpiece of a movie and of an adaptation (as sometimes it happen, we are not pleased by the adaptations of our favorite books), but this is definitely NOT the case.

I highly recommend to watch it and have rated it highly with 10 out of 10, because the movie deserves this rating.

Like my review or not, I can say for myself, I LOVED this movie.

The Big Bang Theory (2007–2019)

Horrible, annoying, disgusting.
3 September 2015
This is the WORST sitcom ever! (If it IS a sitcom at all, and not just some fool's last hope how to attract one's interest.)

I happened to watch parts of some episodes and just wondered why this is said to be a successful series. It's lame, disgusting, horrible, stupid, sick, annoying, unworthy...

The main characters are...well, if they were bad, I'd at least have some words for them, but they are worse than bad...they are extraordinary disgusting and annoying.

I wonder what bad has happened to those people who watch this...But I pity them.

Do NOT watch this and spare your time for something else.

Excellent Harry
30 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This one was wonderfully done!!! WELL, WELL DONE!!!

It's just as if you watched the book, really. They gave everything in the movie what was mentioned in the book and more!

It is:

1.FUNNY thanks to the newcomer Gilderoy Lockhart, who is GENIALLY portrayed by Kenneth Branagh. There has never been an actor except for Alan Rickman who portrayed a book character half so well. Gilderoy must be Kenneth's alter ego, Gilderoy, who is so funny, big headed, incapable and treacherous.

2.SCARY when Harry starts to hear the voice that no one else hears. If you were spooked while reading the book, you will be double spooked when hearing it within the movie with your own ears. It will make you feel as if only Harry and YOU were hearing that voice.

3.INTERESTING while watching the main trio shedding light up on the mystery of petrified scholars. As Harry speaks Parsel tongue, as everything is HOW it was supposed to be.

Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets is a mixture of the best ingredients a movie can have - fun, fear, mystery, great animation, keeping absolutely to the book, eerie villains... Just immerse yourself!

BRAVO Chris Columbus!!!

The Curse of Jack Sparrow
30 August 2015
Pirates of the Caribbean are without a doubt one of the best movie series of all time, but as it happens, The Curse of the Black Pearl is the worst one of these movie series.

The jokes are lame, Jack's mimicry not even funny. Elizabeth and Will make a boring couple and there is no chemistry between Keira and Orlando.

The story is boring, confusing, twisting into such incomprehensible storyline and dumb scenes, that if you won't sleep yourself to death, then thumb up.

But why did I bother to watch the sequels, when this one I didn't like? Because I happened to watch the sequels first and loved the story of The Dead Man's Chest and the sequel of its storyline in the third movie At World'd End. I completely got into the story without even watching the first one, so it seems.

Meant as introduction this Curse of the Black Pearl is, but there is no introduction at all. You can well meet the characters in the sequels and don't need to be sorry for skipping this one.

Barbossa as the main villain is lame, old, boring and inexpressive, nothing compared what is to come next. He doesn't even have his own soundtrack song, and well, speaking of the OST, there isn't much to say either.

I promise, watching the sequels will make you laugh at sophisticated jokes and hold your breath when the REAL enemy comes.

This Curse of the Black Pearl is nothing more than a fairytale for 10-year-old boys.

The only reason why I've given it 5 stars are for the respect I keep for its two younger brothers.

The Dictator (2012)
7/10
Funniest Dictator Ever!!!
30 August 2015
After I saw Borat, I didn't find Sacha Baron Cohen as an actor whose movies are worth watching, but this film has completely changed my opinion. Believe me, The Dictator is one of the most hilarious comedies of ALL TIME!

It's based on prejudices against Arabic terrorism, but so well done, that the main character, Admiral General Aladeen, who comes from Wadiya (a fictive country somewhere in the Arabic region), will make you love him despite all.

Yes, Aladeen is cruel, terroristic, anti-American, but besides also a funny fellow and a one huge oaf, who, in the end, changes his personality (or so we may hope).

It might not seem so, but it's full of situation funny moments and SOPHISTICATED jokes made so that they can be understood ambiguously.

Some scenes from this hilarious movie has become cult scenes, such as The Helicopter Scene, which I highly recommend to watch.

The Soundtrack is also worth a one BIG PLUS - catchy Arabic songs throughout the whole movie will get you! I personally recommend songs as Ila Nzour Nebra and Goulou L'Mama.

What more is left to say? I love this movie and think it deserves a better rating.

A Horrible Overrated Mockery of a Comedy
17 August 2015
I only watched it because of the good rating. Watched it and disliked it. I didn't even smile throughout the whole movie, not to mention laughing - I was wondering why would someone like this...."comedy". It's a mockery to the whole film industry and an insult to Hollywood. The "jokes" were paltry, pitiful, poor... Should I laugh at that fat Zach Galifianakis's jokes or rather "admire" Bradley Cooper? NO! Some of the "funny scenes": a tiger in a hotel room - yeah, funny as nothing else; loss of memory - I "can't breathe so much I laugh"; a little baby whose mother is nowhere to be found - I'm "bursting into laugh". POOR and HORRIBLE and OVERRATED! It's only one big BOREDOM. Do NOT waste your time on this.

Home Is Behind The World Ahead
17 August 2015
The beginning of the great journey starts with an unexpected visit and expected pleasure for the audience!!! Cast is brilliant, you can see that every actor is the embodiment of their characters. Martin Freeman was BORN to play Bilbo and completely gets the character. The dwarfs are awesome! Kili and Thorin are the best dwarf characters. The Misty Mountains melody lets us immerse in the mysterious adventures that are to come. Gollum will lead you through a cavern of riddles, Thorin will fight his own past, Bilbo finds his courage, Gandalf calls his eagles at the most right moment and suddenly you forget all the real world around you. Regret if you haven't seen the movie yet!!!!! It's AWESOME and BRILLIANT!!!

Cyclops (2008 TV Movie)

It IS Entertaining
16 August 2015
Do not judge this movie for its historical imprecision, it's not meant to be a next Troy nor an exact retelling of any historical events. Its story is clearly made up to ENTERTAIN, to not you make think. It's made to let you just watch and maybe smile sometimes. The integration of the Cyclop is a mere refreshment for the story mixed with gladiator fights and tenderly developing love between Marcus and Barbara. Don't judge, this movie is worth more than 2,9. I've seen many a horrible movie, not worth anything, nevertheless gaining better ratings. Why? Do you really need those famous "stars of Hollywood" to make you like a movie? Then you don't like movies at all.

A Tender Teenage Movie
12 August 2015
I haven't read the book the movie is based on, so I cannot compare and review it properly as an adaptation, but the movie itself I find lovely and tender, the value of friendship so lost among people of nowadays reborn in the story. You would think the main theme of it would be the teenage love, but if you immerse yourself, you'll find how you laugh at the jokes the three main male characters, the boys who just end their high school days, make of each other and admire the friendship chemistry that is palpable between them and find out that this is the message of the movie - the real friendship and the realization of a lost of our youth days. Cara as Margo is just what the film needed, with Cara's boyish and crazy behavior extremely befitting Margo. Natt Wolff and his two male co-stars so blend together you'd think they had been friends since they were born. The movie is very similar in its way to the old already forgotten movie with River Phoenix from 1986 "Stand by Me", but definitely better made and enriched with Cara's role as Margo. It's clearly not a blockbuster, not a movie which would attract masses, but if you'd like to go on a high-school adventure full of happiness and disappointment both behold in the yet young life of the main character, go on, this is the movie you may be looking for.

Game of Thrones (2011–2019)
1/10
Reading or watching?...Reading definitely.
10 August 2015
I cannot understand why this series is so successful. I guess it's only because of the violence, sex and nudity displayed plainly within that draws people to watch it. The story of the whole concept is nothing they care about. First of all, the title is wrong. "A Game of Thrones" is only the name of the first of the seven books of the heptalogy of "A Song of Ice and Fire". Maybe it sounds a bit more attractive, yes, but it's not the title it should bear. The most annoying thing about it all is that the characters are much much OLDER than they actually should be, twice the age and also not captured well. E.g. Joffrey Baratheon has become one of the most hated characters, but if you read the books, you may know there ARE equally vile characters in the story, if not worse. He shouldn't be more than 13, but in the series it is a 23 year-old lad who portrays him. Daenerys should be 15, yet in the series she is a 30 year-old woman. And so can I go on and on. Sean Bean as Eddard Stark? Really? He would be my last choice and Arya was supposed to be skinny... Second, why so much nudity and sex? I do not claim that in the books there isn't mentioned how characters are having sex, but it gets lost among thousands of other more important and interesting and more described adventures, and it's purpose is just to make a background and show us the nature of some of the characters. The books are NOT about brothels, the word "brothel" is just mentioned. All I want to say - if you read the books, why should you spoil your imagination by watching this? Let yourself immerse in the great prose of George R. R. Martin and let the series for those who prefer watching this horribly made adaptation over reading and letting their imagination free. My only question is how could Martin consent to such an adaptation of his fantastic books?
