The Perfect Sleep (2009)
Awful!
I would say the narration was inane but, that would mean it had to have sense or substance, which it didn't.
The storyline was little more than that contrived by a ten year old boy with constipation while sitting on the pot.
If we still had coal fires we could use the lacklustre script and wooden acting to light the fire.
If vitality is the characteristic which distinguishes living things from nonliving things, we may now bury this and not bother with a wake.
I would like to say that this digital diatribe had no redeeming features at all but, it does have one, a visual one, and that is the beauty of Roselyn Sanchez.
Rendition (2007)
How many more languages???
Here is yet another movie with the potential to be have been great, unfortunately, it is yet another movie where there is a lot of dialogue in a language I don't know. So many movies like this have come along and have been totally spoiled because we the viewer just don't know what is being said. I can only speak one language and that is English.
Other movies have had lumps of important dialogue in French, Spanish, Swedish, Italian and now with Rendition we have... well I'm not so sure what it is, Farsi? maybe? Each director will say that people speaking in their native tongue gives their movie an air of authenticity. This may be true but, if half the plot lines and important conversations are in a language the viewer has no knowledge of then not only is not providing authenticity, it makes the movie null and void of half the important details. As far as I'm concerned it might as well have been made into two short movies, one in English and the other in Farsi? I don't mind sub-titles but they were absent here, which begs the question; How many languages are we supposed to learn to enjoy movies these days?
