Yucky!
3 December 2007
Warning: Spoilers
WOW, it's interesting to see the variety of reviews of this film. The ones who liked it must have been drugged or related to the filmmakers! This movie had good actors and apparently a large budget, but the script sucked! Nothing about the story made any sense...absolute garbage. The only redeeming thing about this movie besides the fact that I watched it for free is the "wigger wannabes" get killed immediately in the beginning. The "kills" were very imaginative and could have worked well had the script made sense. My advice to the directors would be "hone your directing skills and leave the writing to the professionals"! Don't waste your time on this one.

Regardless of the political statement...these Chicks rock!!
17 October 2006
I saw this movie tonight not knowing very much about the Dixie Chicks or their music. However, I walked away loving these girls and their music AND for what they stand for. This is a wonderfully entertaining documentary and it really gives great insight into the real life of talented showbiz types who do it their way regardless of what you or I think, or their record company for that matter. By now, everyone has heard of the comments made and the fallout from it. I think this movie can be enjoyed by anyone who is open-minded enough to listen to an opposing viewpoint, and still enjoy the movie for what it is. The movie totally opened my mind to the MUSIC of these terrifically talented women and made me an instant fan. It was just gravy that I agreed with the singers comments, but then again, even though I knew nothing about them previous to this film, I agreed with her comments as reported in the media a few years ago. A must-see and totally entertaining look at this history-making trio!!

Yuck !
17 October 2006
What a waste of celluloid! If you remember how hateful and ugly junior high school was, pass on this short film. Although I do give some of the actors kudos with what they had to work with, I have to ask the director, why? The story goes absolutely nowhere unless you think that the senseless and hurtful actions of young teen girls is something to admire. If the director is trying to draw parallels with the actual settings of the Civil War and the urban war of young mindless teenagers on a field trip, they have failed miserably. I do hope the director views this posting and can offer some of the motivation for making this heap in the first place. I am certain that if I were a backer for this film, I would insist on my money back. The movie is just a mess and should be avoided at all cost!

Really a stand-out !!
17 October 2006
Wow, I saw this movie at the Ft. Lauderdale Intl. Film festival tonight and was blown away with the stylish directing of this short film. The lighting was beautiful, the camera work stunning, and the music brought the entire production to life. I kept thinking what a great full-length feature this story would make in the hands of this very capable director. Finding out this was a first-time venture for this director was a big surprise considering the great care he used in bringing this story to life. If you get the chance, make sure you invest the 25 or so minutes to see this film. The actors were perfectly cast, and the story truly believable. For a movie of this length, the surprises kept coming, with most of them being very subtle. It's a great thriller with tons of style!

It's a bird, a plane, no...just bad acting!
29 May 2006
Saw this flick last night at a midnight movie presentation in gay ol' Ft. Lauderdale and, interestingly enough, the "star" Vincent Roth introduced the movie. He is cute and well put-together, but his public speaking skills are on par with his acting ability, and unfortunately for all of us, that is not good. The movie doesn't really tread new ground, in fact, for a gay-themed movie, it wasn't really that interesting of a story. Very lame acting, with many over-weight actors who didn't fit their roles well and left some of us thinking that if we give enough money to an independent movie producer that, we too, could star in a movie! Vincent Roth is rather one-dimensional in his portrayal of the lead and only adds a bit of luster in one scene which is too little, too late. In fact, his body AND acting belong in an entirely different genre of film...PORN! Overall, the film lacks any charm...the only stand-out in the cast is the lead characters science-goober friend, who, unlike any of the others, COULD act his way out of a paper bag! Sorry girls, if you want an entertaining gay-themed movie to see, skip this one...but if you want to see gym-bodied guys with impossible-to-recreate "high cheek bones", in too tight spandex shirts running around like queens...this one is for you! I gave it 4 stars out of 10 just for the few scenes that DO work and the raw nerve it took to release this narcissistic piece of fluff!

Wait for the DVD...
6 January 2006
I saw this film this evening and was scared just reading all the hype about the brutality in this film before seeing it. After seeing the flick, I kept wondering how many of the gore scenes had been cut after the Toronto Film festival because I missed most of them, at least as described by previous reviewers. This movie isn't anything you haven't seen before in this type of genre, in fact, if you believe all the hype, you will be disappointed. Of course, there are scary, edge of your seat moments, but the "buzz" led me to believe that it was closer to "snuff" than "fluff". Great effects, scary concept, but it was anything but ground-breaking...wait for the DVD, the extras will make it worth the price!

Interesting, if not good !
24 September 2005
Although ambitious, this film doesn't quite pull it all together. Telling the tale of newly single, Markus complete with "homo-in-the-big-city" treatment. Every stereotype is represented, even the single and looking gal pal (played quite well by Virginia Bryan). Most scenes are acted as though everyone is aware they are making a movie rather than playing real-life characters. There are some stand-out moments where the characters come through, but overall the attempt seems self-serving. The worst acting performance hands down is Lance Werth as Kevin, the restaurant manager. I couldn't help but think how fitting this role would have been if it had been played by Mink Stole of John Waters fame. Although Werth gives it his best, it isn't enough and he embarrasses himself, and the rest of the cast with this lousy performance.

The best costumes ever !
22 November 2004
Although this drama is a sleeper, you will find the clothing spectacular. I see the only reason to make this picture was to showcase those famous shoulders. Every evening dress is a masterpiece and the plot secondary only to anything Joan wears in this film. As you may expect, Ms. Crawford plays the "rich bitch" role to the hilt too. I had to love the role played by Natalie Schaefer, she's just too delicious in this role. No Joan Crawford drag party would be complete without this gem playing in the background. And if you can't arrive in a stunning frock similar to ones worn by her in this flick, you're not invited !!

Many young starlets play struggling actresses, a must see!
8 October 2003
One of the best "women" films ever made. Look for early appearances of such notables as Eve Arden (along with feline sidekick), Ginger Rogers, Lucille Ball, Ann Miller, Katherine Hepburn... The smart-cracks and wise-ackers are a joy to see and you will get caught up in the ambitions of these would-be actresses of the stage. An absolute delight !!
