Halo (2022)
Way better than I expected!
The acting, writing, and cinematography were WAY passed my expectations. I have no idea why some are so negative. Don't listen to them! At all! I almost never post comments here. That is how much this series impressed me. Give it a second. Oh, and by the way...everytime I found a hole in the storyline, they plugged it. How many times have you been able to say THAT about something??
Ascendant (2021)
Disagree with the dismal rating! Unicorn moment for me.
Give it a chance. Why? I'm hard to please and am pretty judgmental...ok, very judgmental. I make my decision based on the IMDB rating 90% of the time. For no reason at all, I broke my own protocol and did not look it up on IMDB before deciding to watch it. I'm so glad I did! The acting was truly very solid and I'm a snob about that. Every actor was convincing, and had integrity. I never make that statement...ever. The storyline had some holes, (yes, I know) yet, it laid a great path for a sequel should they be brave enough to make one...there's so much real estate to develop the context and build on. And, I despise when Hollywood uses a production as a coupon to preach and push an emotional agenda. I actually felt conviction and empathy in my dark sci-fi soul. Well done!
Killers Anonymous (2019)
Low rating,, really?! Uncomfortable much?
This film get low marks from those with attachments to certain outcomes. I loved this film because it was good enough, very much good enough, to throw me for a loop. It bounced me out on my little "but a bow on it" box. To be blunt, and sorry if I offend anyone, (not sorry at all) this film asked the viewer to see it from the perspective of the characters. Yep, it tapped into the sociopathic facet that exists in all of us and asked us to take a short ride. The quality of acting, because of the choice of cast, was awesome. The actors said yes to this film because they understood the essence of it. God bless them for doing so. We need truths pointed out to us. True artists do just that. Give this little flick a chance. And, be open to the "who gives a f@#%" feel of it all. Your soul will be fine. I promise.
In the Dark (2019)
Looking forward to more episodes!
I thought the pilot was inspiring to be given a chance...I like the main character very much, which usually doesn't happen for me in the pilot most times. I have to search way more than I did for this one. I've already become attached to her and the supporting characters. And, I appreciate the no nonsense approach to people with special needs as well as other marginalized demographics. I saw authentic and good expression of humanity and love. I'll be watching this series.
