News of the World (2020)
I like them Both: Captain Kidd and Johanna
A beautiful and touching story, with a very empathetic and passionate Tom Hanks, and an heartwarming and lovable Helena Zengel. It's true, she doesn't say that much, but that perfectly fits in the story. Her smile brought a big smile on my face too.
The Professor and the Madman (2019)
A film about a dictionary. What can it be? It is beautiful!
It is about the Oxford dictionary. But this film is so much more. It is about madness, suffering, compassion, forgiveness and love. The acting is very good (never saw Mel Gibson acting like this) and the dialogues are great, without being pompous. I have rated a film a 10 only once before. But this film deserves it. It is really, really beautiful.
The Courier (2019)
Pathetic
With Kurylenko as the only exception, this is a masterpiece of pathetic acting. Nothing in it looks real, not one second. Watching is wasting your time.
A Fall from Grace (2020)
Not flawless, but not so bad either
All those bad reviews, I think it is all exaggerated. I really enjoyed watching this film. Sure, there may be some flaws, but that doesn't justify the low ratings. The pure evil against a lovely woman of flesh and blood, it's gripping. A good watch.
Humans (2015)
Not into scifi, but love it
Normally I am not into the scifi genre, but Humans is one of a kind. It's not the storyline (although okay) and not the human characters (okay too, Mattie in particular), it's the characters of the synths that make it special and lovable. One synth stands out for me, and that's Odi. His kind and fragile personality earns an Oscar.
Skybound (2017)
Not even worth rating
If negative ratings were possible, I woud rate Skybound minus 10 or so. Bad plot, bad acting, bad everything. Cutting of a plane engine with an axe? Come on... Oh, well, the scenery was beautiful sometimes. Let's make it a minus 8.
Damascus Cover (2017)
Nice theme but poor acting
Poor acting and anachronisms make this a movie you may want to skip, despite its interesting theme.
