Greed (2019)
Some funny bits
I would he lying if I said I didn't find Coogan funny. Here he plays his typical gormless, none-self-aware character he plays in most of his satire.
You're either going to love it or hate it. This film is what I imagine the Hollywood elite "think" that the plebs would find satirical.
Star Wars: Visions (2021)
Not great, but not terrible either
So exactly what you would expect from Disney Star Wars.
First of all, it's really about time someone thought to bring Anime and Star Wars together, the the two compliment each other beautifully. Certain styles of Art within the episodes themselves will put certain people off straight away, and that's okay. You can see they tried to cater to both younger and more seasoned viewers. It took me about 10 - 15 seconds in each episode to decide if I was going to continue or just flick to the next one.
For me, 3 episodes were really well done, the opening one was an absolute banger. Unfortunately, like with all things Disney, consistency is never a strong point. The spirit was there, and it sure felt like star wars, but I will say it again -- Disney always seems to miss the mark, no matter what. It always feels like a grand opportunity, that so many fans have anticipation for, gets completely squandered.
I gave it a 5, because I feel they genuinely gave a decent effort this time. The episodes that were good, were fantastic. But you still have a very long way to go Disney.
Wrong Turn (2021)
Pleasantly suprised
I want to start off by saying, with all the trash that Hollywood and netflix have put out these past few years, forcing politics into just about everything they can. You would be forgiven for thinking this straight away in the first half hour of watching this new adaptation.
We shouldn't have to be suprised or shocked when these expectations are subverted, but this is the world we live in now. I couldn't prise my eyes off Wrong Turn, and I personally liked the direction the writer decided to take this one.
It has its tropes, sure. But I really liked how your never quite certain who or if deserves what ever is coming next, and the discomfort this causes you.
Solid 7. Good job!!
Turning Point: 9/11 and the War on Terror (2021)
Conveniently timed.
A really well chronicled timeline of events throughout the war on Afghanistan.
However it becomes extremely apparent there is a political undertone being painted underneath layers of truth. And it is done very subtely, and picks up pace toward the later episodes.
The Nailbomber (2021)
A little too convenient...
What these people did, and their ilk, deserved nothing less than the death sentence. Despicable excuse for human beings.
But once has to ask. Why now? With tensions in the world reaching critical mass, why now choose to bring this story to the globe. Just something to think about.
Homeland (2011)
Meet some of the people who put it all on the line
Homeland is and will always be my favourite TV show of all time, with gripping on the edge of you're seat drama, so tense you can hear you're own heart beat pounding inside of you're chest. To the absurdly well written characters and the chemistry they all have on the set.
It's really difficult not to overstate just how entertaining the show really is. And there are actual consequences to a characters mistakes, often detrimental. Unless you're referring to Rupert Friend's character Peter Quinn. A Special Activities Division paramilitary special operator and overall complete badass. Even though he is given near enough super hero status in this series... until nearer the end, you can't help but pray he finds a way out of those ugly scenarios that he finds himself in very often.
A MUST WATCH.
