Could have been better...
19 April 2005
Warning: Spoilers
The cast was fantastic, but the soundtrack is the most appealing aspect of this film.

Very emotional at times, but there were just too many mistakes to ignore, such as Tong Po's boxing gloves "magically" disappearing as he throws the referee out of the ring, a non-flinching body guard, blood being on the face one second and then gone the next, David Sloan raising his left leg to kick - but his right leg comes out and hits - and then the left leg comes back again. The left-right leg kick thing was the worst as the leg was made of rubber (watch the part where David Sloan kicks the Thai manager in the face closely and you'll see what I mean).

I would have preferred if the storyline revovled around Neil Vargas...

$500 budget
19 April 2005
I wouldn't be surprised if this movie was made on a $500 budget with its bad acting an ultra poor sound quality. I bought the DVD for $3.00, and after watching it I felt like I had payed $2.95 too much.

The DVD cover displays a steroid freak (main character), a huge truck and a group of 80's punk rockers with M16 machine guns. Well, in the actual movie, there was no truck, no 80's punks and the main character was far from a steroid freak.

The most enjoyable thing about this movie was the main character's bomb car and his mad parking techniques, but other than that it's a complete waste of time. Although this movie is a great cure for insomnia, my advice would be to avoid it.

Wrong Bet
7 April 2004
In australia the movie is called "Wrong Bet" and it is about how Lyon (Van Damme) escapes from the Foreign Legion to come to America to visit his injured brother, who later dies. He decides to help his sister-in-law and neice by gaining money from professional street-fights. The character Joshua is funny and the movie has some fantastic fight scenes, especially at the end when he verses "Atilla". It's also got some great lines: Sonny:"You're kinda pretty, I don't know whether to fight you, or f**k you?" Joshua:"Look man, the whole bet's on him man, the whole bet's on Atilla" LionHeart:"Wrong-Bet!!"

Red Scorpion (1988)
Great movie
7 April 2004
It's a fantastic movie and very touching. It may appear 'slow' at times, but bear with it, because it's well worth it. I love the switching. First he's on the soviets side, then pretends to be on the african side, go back to the soviets only to be tortured and then escapes to re-join the african rebels. The theme music for this movie is FANTASTIC. The best scene is after Dolph blows off the Cuban commanders arm; he is outside firing a heavy machine gun (in slow motion with the theme song playing in the background). That part may only be 5 seconds long, but it's the best part in my opinion.

Fantastic
7 April 2004
Contains Spoiler!! I'm a big fan of action movies and this has to be one of my all time favorites. After having his dog shot, his best friend killed and his daughter kidnapped, you can tell Chuck is gonna dish out some punishment. Some might say that the fight scene at the end was a bit short; not me. If there's one word to describe that scene, its REALISTIC. Real bare knuckle fights don't go on for 10-20min. I love the stand-off between David Carradine and Chuck Norris, and the theme music is very powerful (it seems to resemble the "Once Upon a Time in the West" theme). The best bit of the movie is the final fight scene and when Chuck's girlfriend gets shot. That scene is only about 5minutes in total, but mate, It was well done. The super-charged Dodge is a MUST-SEE!

Firecreek (1968)
Greatest Western Ever!
7 April 2004
I have seen this movie at least 10 times and I never, ever get bored of it. It's just a fantastic movie, starring two of the greatest: James Stewart and Henry Fonda. James Stewart plays a shy farmer, who stays out of trouble, but is then forced to take a stand against 4 killers when his friend gets murdered. It's is a very POWERFUL and EMOTIONAL movie, especially towards the end.

Anyone who dislikes this movie is obviously insane. This movie has all the drama and tension that is lacking in many of todays (second rated) movies. Definately a MUST-SEE!
