Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024)
Bland and the writing is pretty despicable
If it wasn't for it being the Avatar I would have stopped watching it after episode 1. I have to put in effort to keep watching. It's just boring and empty.
Other than Zuko pretty much everyone falls flat with their acting.
The worst part of this show by far is the writing. They put so much money into the stunning visuals that they forgot what makes a show good. It all comes back to the writing.
Cut back on the beautiful visuals and put a lot of money into the writing, this will help disguise the poor acting as well and can make the show good. The elements for a good show are there.
I am more than happy for the show not to follow exactly from the original, but please make the dialogue natural. Right now everyone speaks like they are on stage in a play. Stop with the telling and start showing (writing 101), some of the actors should really be replaced. But at the very least get in some great writers.

I like the show
I like the show, it's a solid 7.5. I think there was an expectation that this show would be more faced paced because it's an FBI show. Maybe the trailer didn't do it justice in terms of setting expectations to its space. But I like the characters and with the past, present, and future, it manages to capture the depth of the characters and character motives in a short time. I'm especially enjoying the slow burn and relationship between Or and Poet. I hope it goes where I think it's going. Overall a decent show that I'm excited to finish watching. I do wish they released all the episodes at once, I don't like shows that I have to wait for, I think that method is very outdated. A show for me is most enjoyable when watched over a short period, but especially this show where each episode is important for the next one. I probably would have rated this a lot less if I didn't start watching now and have access to the first four episodes all at once.
The Boys (2019)
An almost perfect show.
I love the characters. All the characters. They are all great, pretty deep characters. For me that's what makes a show great. This show is done with such high quality, the actors are great and the writing is great. I'm not a fan of gore but that's not why I knocked it down to 8 stars. My only problem is the character Maeve. She's one of my favourite characters. But she has taken more and more of a back seat with each successive season. The show definitely has been leading up to Maeve getting her happy ending. But why did they have to do it so soon? Her arc could have been with so much more depth, she needed so much more screen-time, and I would have loved to see her working together more with starlight and kimiko. I just feel like they did her character such a disservice and I want her back as a proper main character. But they already kind of stuffed that up. Very disappointed in that. But it is my only disappointment with the show. So 8 stars.

Was very excited, but let me down
I absolutely loved the premise. All women cast, stranded, post apocalypse, and being stuck with all the people from your past. But most of the characters were pretty unlikable, some of the actresses completely over acted, and the storylines weren't great. Also being a woman that loves women, was hoping and expecting a woman loving woman storyline. But we got apsolutely none of that. It was all just highschool friendships and enemies which was a little boring to have every storyline focused on that. I wanted a bit more spice. Also not personally a huge fan of the poop crude jokes.
Overall quite disappointing.
The Last of Us (2023)
Watchable, maybe?
Honestly I might only be still watching because of the such high ratings, and I keep thinking it must be good, even though I keep finding myself scrolling through Facebook half the time. The 3rd episode would have been good if it was at all relevant to the plot. There's no other way to say this, but it's just super boring. I find myself zoning out all the time. I find shows with an ensemble cast more interesting in general, so that adds to it. It feel like with all these filler episodes that have nothing to do with the plot, the writers actually don't know what to do with this show. It doesn't feel like theirs a lot of direction. So far their travels to their destination is completely meaningless. It's boring travel with obstacles put in place just because, rather than meaningful obstacles that drive the plot.
Warrior Nun (2020)
A great Season 2!
Season one had a rocky start, but got a lot better once Ava accepted her fate and the euroguy was ditched.
Season two was awesome. It had me smiling, laughing, and on the edge of my seat. I loved every moment of it.
Watching Ava and Beatrice making eyes at each other all season 2 was intense. I love drawn out relationships like this, but hoping to see a lot more love action between them in season 3.
Carmilla is great, the fighting is awesome. Not sure I get Liliths motivations, they seem too allover the place. But overall a very fun second season.
Honestly didn't miss Mary's exit from the show, she just wasn't doing it for me in season one. She felt more one dimensional than the other characters.
Anyway. Hopefully we won't have to wait very long for the third season. So excited!
A League of Their Own (2022)
Very Disappointing
Everything about this show just feels very inauthentic. I'm a lesbian. My two favourite things are period pieces and lesbians. So I was very excited about a female baseball series set in the 40s. It feels like they didn't want to put in the effort to reflect the time at all, and it gives a huge disservice to what it was like for lesbians in that time. I would really love for them to scrap this season and give it a proper go, because it could be great.
If you can completely ignore how everyone speaks like they're college girls from 2022, then maybe you could enjoy this show. I couldn't get past it. The entire show feels like a break of the fourth wall and in the worst way possible.
First Kill (2022)
Got me smiling the whole way through
To most straight people this show is going to feel cheesy, predictable, and like they've seen it a million times. This is all true, but the key difference is that this show centres around two lesbian characters. The characters are loveable, and the show has not gone woke. So, so many lesbians have been wanting a cheesy show centred around lesbians for forever. To us this show is gold, and I loved every minute of it.
Now for the bad. There was obviously a small budget so the CGI felt like it was from the early 2000s. The writing could have been better. My biggest issue is that like a lot of shows they bring the characters together WAY too quickly, I don't even know why they have fallen in love. I think the best relationships that form have a long drawn-out tension, where you're on the edge of your seat desperate for these characters to get together. Would have been nice to see Callipoe fall desperately in love with Julliette, but fight herself to not give in.
