The Dead Don't Die (2019)

Amazing cast, Terriblly bad everything else

Boring.. unoriginal.. fails at being funny.. fails at being Meta.. fails to entertain on any level.. the whole movie is the joke and the joke is on you if you paid any money to see this none-sensical mundane campy film.

the 3 stars I gave is for the 3 actors I like in this movie. I can only guess these big names are real good friends with the director or doing him some kind of favour.

The Mandela Effect (2019)

Neo on his own..the geek's heaven

Think of the matrix or the 13th floor. only Neo is triggered by a trauma and we're not really sure if he is in fact just going crazy or it is the simulation.

the movie is packed with geek culture takes from games, movies, youtubers and fun physics. every single one of them is a fun moment of it's own yet it's not forced, it blends in nicely to surve the overall arc.

while it may not offer any new original ideas but it's so well executed to keep the suspense going, keeps the suspision and doubt

I would have given it even a higher rating had the ending would've been more to my liking but that;s just a personal preference. Highly recommend if you are a sci fi fan/geek

unoriginal entertainment

I stumbled upon this movie by accident just looking for some sci-fi quick fix to watch. I had low expectations to begin with and that helped me find the movie mildly entertaining in it's humor and unfolding of the events. yet it lacks creativity and originality.

it's a low budget every day movie so don't expect anything new. acting was mediocre, story is another multi-universe theory you'll find it really well done in the 2009 movie "Triangle" but this one explores it in a dull shallow " best guess" sort of way that you'll find yourself saying " really?? is that the best you could come up with? " and the characters are all illogically twisted for the sake of adding mystery.

the movie is only 50 mints long which is the only reason I sat through it all the way till the end. so find something better.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)

death of originality

if you have never seen a star wars movie before then don't bother reading the following as you wouldn't understand how much this piece is lacking in originality, content and epicness !

these are things that completely threw me off: much smaller world ! I remember from the previous movies there were so many things happening at different places it was such a big world ! this one made the transition animation between the scenes meaningless since almost everything is happening in the same place ! - an emo teen sith throwing tantrums with a lightsaber ! - everyone uses a lightsaber you don't even need to know anything about JEDI ! - it's a new weapon.. same as a deathstar.. but bigger ?! originality dead. - same father/ son drama only dull and boring this time around. - poorly choreographed fight scenes. - poorly added " supposedly " funny jokes

the movie is built completely on nostalgia from the previous ones and offers nothing new.

if you see any 5 minute cinematic trailer for any of the star wars games you'll find much more joy than spending 2 hours watching this visually glamorous, hollow copycat movie of it's own original series.

Turbo Kid (2015)

90's nostalgia comic

I was taken by surprise as I had no expectations or any previous notions on what this movie is about due to lack of marketing but this movie is a good example of a low budget done right !

it's a nostalgic 90's atmospheric apocalyptic comic like movie. not only the time line of the events but the way it was shot is all 90s. the camera angles, the sound effects, catch phrases, the mind blowing sound track. if you had your childhood some where in the 90's I guarantee you will enjoy this. at some parts it shows cheesy acting but it fits the whole picture.

it may look like a kids (family) movie at first but it carries a lot of bad-ass action sequences filled with gore and tons of blood.

recommended for you if you liked "kick ass - mad max(the classic)- arcade fighting games "

Black Box (II) (2012)

it's a western " wanna be "

I'm happy when I see the writer and director are both the same person. it usually means that not much of original vision has changed, sadly in this case the vision was blurry and dull.

the movie has a western vibe to it so I'll review it Eastwood style the good : nice level of suspense stretched out across the movie with fairly descent acting. most of the characters are well played and identifiable. the visuals and the effects are not bad but could have been better.

the bad : loss of coherence. you find yourself asking repeatedly why did he do that? what's the point of this? why don't they just...etc. this cowboy Hercules from hell and lots of other details are unexplainable.

the ugly : horrible wrapped up ending with a one liner commentary. feels like they ran out of both budget and story and the movie is only an hour and 20 mints long if they added some time to wrap it up properly may be it would have pumped up the overall experience a bit.

The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)

" Quite " Boooooooring !!!

you will not laugh in this movie, unless you enjoy delusional British comedy and by that I mean jokes of an up-tight 60 year old and over blown conversations with stuffing needless words like " quite absurd and tedious " which ironically describe the film.

I watched this movie because it has a lot of movie stars that I like which obviously was intended for selling the film, lets add a 2 second shot of Bill Murray answering a phone or just walking by !!

William Dafoe's character was the only thing remotely enjoyable in this piece of torture and time waste. it drew a sad smile on my face during the length of praying for a laugh !

I don't recommend this film unless you feel like boring yourself to death.

Batman: Year One (2011 Video)

Dull ! and LAME !!

the problem with these recent batman movies is that they started to take batman too seriously !! which sucks the fun right out of it. If you take batman seriously then he's a douche bag wearing a tight leather costume in a city full of criminals.

I'm more of an old school "Tim Burton" take on batman, a crazy psycho scarred kid who seeks revenge upon the darkness of Gotham city, Not this silly detective in a bat uniform !!.

if you are into CRAZY comics and love super hero stuff DON'T WATCH this movie, this one is more for the serious detective crime fighting with no fun.

Real Steel (2011)

powerfully energetic !!

The movie is very entertaining, very grabbing and tense.

First impression of mine was completely off, I thought this would be a really cheesy family kinda thing but I was so relieved that I was wrong. the movie grabs your attention after the first 15 minutes and then you're hooked. I couldn't close my eyes although I didn't sleep the day before. and I bet you that by the end you will be so tense you'll start air boxing inside the movie theater without even knowing it.

It's a great family movie that deeply explores father and son relationships in an indirect way and really brings out the kid in you, also for boxing fans this is a must see ! it's kind of an old school struggle story but with a high class acting and amazing graphics.

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

too long with so little in it !!

the movie is neither too serious nor too comic !!! they didn't exploit the concept of a super hero properly as the whole first half of the movie is about this skinny "wanna-be" soldier which was pretty boring except for a few comedic scenes here and there... not even funny enough. also if you are a ww2 fan you won't enjoy this movie much as it goes half way between a comic and a reality war..

the second half of the movie is where the story and action hardly starts to kick in..and suddenly it becomes a super hero movie ! but the plot is a bit stupid that you will find yourself asking this question many times " why doesn't he just do this !...why don't they just do that !!? " so it doesn't engage smartly to the audience..

OK the good stuff :D, visual effects are well done that you won't even feel them..environment and costume designs are OK, action scenes are not bad but fewer than one hoped

The Beaver (2011)

unexpectedly amazing !!

you hear about a movie with a guy and a talking puppet for a hand and you think to yourself " Come on !! this can't be good ".. IT IS !

The movie took me by surprise to find myself relating to some of the characters on so many levels specially the struggle with one's self, I think any person has to be going through a family struggle or the loss of a loved one so they will strongly relate to this piece of art.

It is very strong and truthful, it didn't over do it neither it's lacking. It connects to you without the words and every single performance is admirable.

the script is well written, the only downside is that it gets a little "preachy" around the end but in a good way.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)

I can't say I didn't enjoy it, it was full of fun moments, comic situations and markable characters which makes it overall really entertaining to watch. I love quick comedy.

The movie is great up until the point in drags too long and becomes predictable at times. like when they blew up the space shuttle carrying all the transformers away, you could easily tell they won't just kill them all off like that.. so it was pretty lame, as lame as Optimus Prime come back just to end up with him in trapped in a web of strings !! I found the action in this movie a little lacking.

the plot at times made no sense to me, what happens if the decepticons do get their planet to earth !! they would teleport a whole planet just to crash it into earth !! destroying them both?

The first one still remains my favorite

The Warrior's Way (2010)

atmospheric action

I regret watching this movie at home and not at the movie theater. these kind of movies are much more enjoyable specially on the big screen. The movie has a magic to it and atmosphere that is very well portrayed.

I loved the hero character being the " silent and deadly " type, it saved the script and boosted up the acting.

If you are into samurai and warrior's from the east and such I definitely recommend this movie, it successfully managed to combine swordsman skills with cowboy gun fights, which I never seen before. the movie is very stylish and they did a great job with the atmospheric effects.

Green Lantern (2011)

enjoyable

It's a good adaptation from the comics. didn't stray far off and didn't give it full justice either, but overall it's fun and entertaining to watch, specially if you don't know about the green lanterns and it's your first experience.

the story is good, direction and special effects are not bad at all. what i didn't like was the script, it's desperate for some good writing as some of the dialogue were lame and most of the secondary characters didn't get their proper spotlight.

I loved Ryan Reynolds he fits the part and he easily could relate his human weakness to the audience. also the performance by Mark Strong as Sinestro blew my mind away.

Super 8 (2011)

Boring !

The movie starts boring and ends boring.. it drains every last bit of mind energy you have trying to enjoy it and not walking out of the theater. Even if this movie was out in the 80's it would still be boring ( speaking as a person who loved E.T. this movie is incomparable ) the acting was shallow and mediocre, only Elle Fanning stands out with some talent and quality acting.

the story has nothing new to offer or interesting and the direction is below average.

This movie tried to rise up on the shoulders of a great classic like ET by stuffing the bikes and children elements and miserably failing but what you going to do? just slam the " Steven Spielberg " stamp on any movie poster and everyone would go see it !!
