Jack Frost (1998)
So precious
Yes, the concept is far-fetched. But I think it's such a heart-warming, well-acted movie. The kiddo, Kelly Preston, and Michael Keaton all did such a great job. It's kind of crazy because it is such a silly plot, but it's still so touching. I also really love the British guy that's in it- he does a great job a well. It's funny and while it deals with a relatively heavy topic (a kiddo losing his dad in a car accident), they really make the majority of the movie light-hearted and heart-warming. I really love this movie and enjoyed sharing it with my kiddos. I definitely think it is worth the watch!
Euphoria (2019)
Wow
I was super put off by the graphic violence of the first two episodes, but once I got past those, the show is amazing. It's dark but also funny somehow. The performances are incredible. Zendaya is amazing. The end of the second season is really powerful. They took a heavy season and ended it with a lot of humor and hope. I'm amazed that they took a show I thought was just about shock factor and make it really powerful and impactful. It definitely is worth watching the entire thing. I can only hope that they let Rue have a happy ending, wherever the show goes. Excited for the next season and look forward to where they take it!
High School Musical 3: Senior Year (2008)
Cheesy, innocent, nostalgic goodness
I don't understand how anyone doesn't love this movie. It is my go-to anytime I need a pick me up. Not only is it just super fun, but it makes me think about my high school years and that scary/exciting time when you're leaving high school and venturing into adulthood. As a parent, it tugs at the heart strings as you consider how fast it really does go by. It really is just so fun and easy to watch, and gets me in my feels. Plus, the cast is just so dang talented. It's an all-time fave for me. The whole series is on my list, but they really brought it home with this one. Love these movies and will pass them onto my kiddos to enjoy.
Turning Red (2022)
SO GREAT!
My mind is blown that people didn't like this movie. It is so funny. I ADORE the main character and her four friends. What an awesome example of friendship. We have kids from 9-19 and they all loved it as much as my husband and I did. I think the message of the movie is so good!
Yellowjackets (2021)
ADDICTING
I am loving this show. The acting is great and the plot line is SO suspenseful. It's hard to even attempt to summarize this show, but if you like suspense and psychological type thrillers, give it a go! Christina Ricci is amazing, as are Juliette Lewis and Melanie Lynskey and Tawny Cypress. I binged the whole first season in two days.
8-Bit Christmas (2021)
So precious
What a great, modern Christmas movie. So funny and touching, with a fantastic cast. Our family loved it. I think it is massively relatable for 80s babies. Steve Zahn and June Diane Raphael are hilarious.
tick, tick...BOOM! (2021)
So good
What an incredible work. What incredible music. What amazing performances. So good. I had no idea Andrew Garfield could do that! Vanessa Hudgens and Alexandra Shipp and every other member of the cast were just incredible. Loved the cameos from some of musical theatres biggest names too!
Dear Evan Hansen (2021)
Amazing
It is absolutely brilliant. All of the performances are incredible and authentic. The story is so powerful. What a gift this story is.
Cinderella (2021)
I loved it!
I am so confused about the bad reviews! It is SO funny and upbeat. It's super cheesy, but so much fun. The performances are all so great too! It felt very much in the same realm as the HSM movies and the movie musical of Hairspray. Fun, silly, upbeat, and VERY musical. I loved the music, remakes and newbies. Camilla is fantastic, Idina is a vision as always, and the whole cast overall was so fun. IT is great! Watch it and enjoy!
Into the Woods (2014)
I liked it!
I am honestly confused by the negative reviews. As someone who knows and loves the stage musical, I enjoyed it! I think it must just be a case of unmet expectations for folks who didn't know it was a musical and aren't familiar with the original fairytales. They definitely get dark, but that's how they were originally written! I think the performances were great and the show is quirky and funny. I enjoyed it.
Notorious Nick (2021)
Great story
I really enjoyed this movie. As a fan of MMA and a fan of Nick, it was amazing to see more of his story. He truly is an inspiration. The cast of this movie is really great too. So glad someone saw how incredible Nick's story is and wanted to share it.
In the Heights (2021)
SO GREAT
This movie blew my expectations out of the water. It is so incredible. It's so beautiful and uplifting and funny. The entire cast is INCREDIBLE, but Corey Hawkins stood out with his absolutely amazing voice. Phenomenal feel good movie. Love love love!
The Tax Collector (2020)
Good for what it is
Super surprised by all the negative reviews! I thought it was really well done for the kind of movie it is. Great performances by the whole cast.
The Fundamentals of Caring (2016)
Phenomenal film
I cannot believe I had never heard of this movie before. Paul Rudd outdid himself. Incredible film. All amazing performances, so funny. Full of heart. Selena Gomez was amazing too. Great great movie. All must see. Spread the word so everyone can see this amazing movie.
Life in a Year (2020)
Jaden Smith is amazing
I loved this movie. Jaden Smith is such a great actor with such an authenticity and relatability. Loved him. Chris Delia turned in a great performance as did the rest of the cast. Great movie.
Superintelligence (2020)
So funny!
I can't figure out why people are hating on this film. It was so funny and light hearted. All the acting was great and I really enjoyed it.
The Prom (2020)
LOVE
I adore this movie. It's funny and poignant and fun, and full of phenomenal talent. I was impressed with how it DID not play into stereotypes from my perspective. It had a really diverse cast with people playing roles that were not stereotypical (example, Kerry Washington as the "Karen"). I thought everyone was fantastic! And the girl who played Emma... wow. Amazing!
Freaky (2020)
Loved it
This movie is hilarious. Vince Vaughn and the rest of the cast are badass. It's definitely scary at some parts and has some gore, but mostly it's a riot. Loved it.
Hooking Up (2020)
Disjointed but impactful
I ended up enjoying this movie. It felt a little disjointed and clunky at the beginning, but overall, it's a really powerful, relevant story. I can't tell if it's the storyline or the directing that are the problem, but the performances of the two leads are great and the concept of sex addiction is really relevant and powerful.
Good Boys (2019)
So funny
I was not prepared to enjoy this movie this much. I was dying laughing. It was was more sweet than I was expecting. It definitely has some mature content, but it's actually a great moving with a sweet message. And HILARIOUS!
Bella and the Bulldogs (2015)
Such a good show!
I can't believe this show only had one season! It was so good. Funny and lighthearted but also full of great messages, especially the finale. I wish they'd made more!
