Lift (2024)
Don't listen to the haters! It's good for a popcorn movie
Watched it this eve after a long day at work. Netflix said it was number 1 so you can imagine my surprise at the reviews on here. Went into it with low expectations.
OK, so it's a popcorn movie. But it's a fun little heist, few unexpected twists, couple new unexpected things. The cast were fun, some good connections and chemistry. The bad guys were a bit cliché and seemingly unnecessary, but they didn't take away from it, altho the scene with the dogs at the beginning wasn't needed.
Venice is beautiful, some great locations and some reasonable cgi. Should you rush out and watch it? No. And it's true all the best humour was in the trailer. But it's not terrible and if you set your expectations accordingly, it's a fun watch.
Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway (2021)
Charming, but not as good as the first one.
After 13 days of 12 hour+ shifts we needed something mindless. This definitely ticked the box! It was charming, great moral at the end and kept us engaged despite exhaustion. The first one had us both laughing out loud. Sadly this was only smile worthy and the use of CGI does help with the comedy action but it also takes something away from it. There were some obvious mistakes that felt like a bad influence on children - picking up the rabbits by their ears, not giving them water in the cage etc. Easy things to have not done so they were odd choices, or perhaps a lack of attention to detail. As former rabbit owners, we felt this was irresponsible, so if watching this with a child, I'd suggest some guidance! Also, children are easily influenced, and showing them that rabbits can be thrown in the air, might not have been a wise choice! However, there were plenty adult jokes and whilst we won't rush out to buy it, we'd watch it again with the nieces and nephews.
Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey (2020)
Fantastic
We absolutely loved this. The music is brilliant, the singing fantastic, very reminiscent of the greatest showman. The young girl - just wow! We'll be keeping an eye out for her.
The Crown (2016)
Watch the first 2 seasons then give up...
Seasons 1 and 2 were some of the best TV we've watched. My husband has never really been a fan of the monarchy, but this really showed him a different light. Season 3, what?! The cast are dour and miserable. We love Olivia, but this just doesn't work for her. We're on the verge of giving up in episode 5 as it's so dull, slow paced and frankly, a disaster after the first 2 seasons.
The Good Doctor: Friends and Family (2019)
Devastatingly brilliant
What an actor! The whole thing was pretty emotionally charged, but the last scene?! Unbelievably intense and powerful acting. Leah's an amazing friend to him and just wow.
Grey's Anatomy: Silent All These Years (2019)
Wow.
I bawled. This was incredible. So powerful and really makes you think about rape and about the consequences. Powerful acting and an overwhelming message with the women flanking the halls - especially with the soundtrack. Just wow. A heart breaking topic which was sensitively handled.
A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding (2018)
Disappointing sequel
Really enjoyed the first one, was excited to find a sequel and it was awful. Characters were awful and not likeable in the slightest, most were annoying, no chemistry, no warmth, a proper fail!
