Black Mirror (2011)
End of the line...
This season continues the move away from the sci-fi themed story telling. Now it's all about how many stars they can sicophantically attach to an episode, or counter balance with a contrived unknown. The stories are just awful, dull, lifeless, almost sporadic in their dullness. It started a few seasons ago, with the famous mullet child "singer" and a story about a doll (?), and it's continued descending down, until quite literally it has managed to attract a devil from the lowest pits of hell. Death and Robots has cruised past this roadwreck, and it wouldn't have wrecked if they had just left it as it was at season 3. But they obviously just wanted to suck more cash out of its bloated puffy face, and let's face it, use it as a chance to meet their favorite celebs. This show is now like a pompous art exhibition, with talentles "celebs" drifting around, waiting for their own episode, and no doubt being told repeatedly about how amazing they are, and how amazing this episode will be blah blah blah. In reality each season of this has mirrored Charlie Brookers writing talent, and now they are both, just all so passe.

Why not use real actors accents
Not due to cultural appropriation but for the sake of quality - please use people with real accents from real countries - please !! I mean, are we still in an age when actors are used for voiceovers who can't even do an accent ? Why not get someone Scottish to do the Scottish accent ? And why oh why is there nobody on this planet who can do an Irish accent ? The voices in this film sound like a bunch of Australian drunks.
If you can listen to randomized accents, and dont mind missing half the dialog, then this is a half decent film, not particularly well written, as its just another generic template, filled in by studio session writers, and not very well voice acted as I already mentioned. It does have the Disney empathy triggers so its good for 5-9 year olds. It seems the days of decent writing are well and truely gone, we just have to lower our expectations now, and get used to formulaic, nuetralized cliches. So watch this, its a good 6 out of 10.
No Time to Die (2021)
Laziest Cliche Writing
This is such a shame. The writing is abysmal in this film. It's like a shovelled up collection of the most cliche of cliche parts of all the other films, with nothing, not even an attempt at anything original at all. I can imagine Fiennes, Craig etc all laughing at how stupid their lines were in this. The deserve Oscars for having to say such drivel.
The acting is average, but has some terrible performances from some of the regulars, and new comers. The score is non existent, and the 4k image of the screen makes it look like a TV film, with few extras being used in the backgrounds, no atmosphere in the interior or exterior shots. Long shots look like something you get on car adverts filmed from drones.
But the real killer if that they took James Bond in this film, and also the whole of Spectre. That should have been a massive privilege, and should have been reserved for when they had a decent set of writers to do it with. They have completely destroyed the mythology in this film, the whole 25 films worth.
The writers of this are an absolute joke, such a shame.
Le Donk & Scor-zay-zee (2009)
Mockumentary Beauty
This is a seriously funny film, for so many different reasons. If you like the dynamics of Meadows and Considine in films such as Dead Mans Shoes and A Room for Romeo Brass then this film will amaze you.
Firstly Considine has a real East Midlands English edge to him when he acts with Meadows, those shifty unpredictable eyes, and that stare that lasts a little bit too long. Naturally he is a scary actor, and so to see him become a goofy, comedic clown is so surprising it takes half the film to convince yourself it's actually him.
The film is improvised and yes they probably shot miles of footage for the 71 minutes used, but my God they looked like they were having a great laugh. Meadows can often be heard pissing himself laughing in the background when Considine throws out some serious offbeat ideas (and words). This in itself made me laugh.
The comedy is funny because it feels quite natural, you spend most of the time laughing at the characters and the anecdotes they spill, more than you do at the situations they are in, which adds something really interesting to the film, it's not a slapstick for the Americans.
The film holds together fairly well, but I didn't really care about that, I just enjoyed laughing out loud to it. I would recommend though watching Dead Mans Shoes just before to give you an amazing contrast, and sharpen the experience.
Like I said it's funny, entertaining and if you like any of the actors or meadows in it - it's a must see. I just wished I was there when they shot it.
