Meet Cute (2022)
Dark but delicious and thoughtful
Maybe the casting was wrong because we know them as sunshine people but damn this is broken and dark. But clever and involved. I really liked this and I think it will stay with me.
Had a dark day when I watched it so I feel the sentiment, it made me think and reflect. And sometimes we get all caught up in the what ifs about stuff in our past. The crap stuff that happened to us, what if it didn't. But they do make us become who we are and it's okay, we can be broken but here. The most interesting people I know are broken and dark. I am happy to give this a 9 and I might need to eat a bunch of chocolate now because it was hard going in places.
Veneer (2021)
Gorge aesthetic
Am really surprised there are no reviews.
Now tv pushed this at me and I thought okay. Slow and gently paced for a short. Some amusing moments.
I like the lost in translation bits. I liked the premise.
Sometimes a bit heavy handed.
All in all I think fun.
Takes surprising twists and turns. Music is fun. As I said aesthetic is gorge. I enjoyed the directing and acting.
If you have a connection to the deaf community definitely give it a go. I don't but I enjoyed seeing this insight. It's important to look at the world from other perspectives and I found this enchanting and delightful.
Give it a go. Is only 28 mins and a lot goes on.
Breakers (2019)
Engaging
But what's with the poor production? The sound is terrible in places. I'd love to think it was deliberate (as another reviewer has proffered) but it's random and doesn't fit.
The storyline is paced well and engaging. It nicely builds up the plot over time. Some fun characters.
