Melancholia (2011)
A Von Trier's masterpiece, but only for the awaken mind
The wedding part grew into my mind as it was a painting of the master Pieter Breughel himself: Boring and dull at first glance but growing faster and faster into that particular piece of art caricaturing the mindlessness of 'average' mankind whilst acting like unaware passengers on a train on the run. With only the bride being truly aware of the final destination (we all share) People might find her behaviour selfish and obscene by moments, but in fact all she does is between the endless "why-questions" swallowing her into depression, enjoying the things she really wants to do before dying. As we all should do! Part II Brings us the grand finale cutting deep and lethal like a knife in a kidney leaving anyone in a small theatre in Ghent speechless while the credits were rolling over the screen. A film that made me think several times this week as if it was a dream still partly unexplained, means it is a stayer in my personal hall of fame. A Massive 9 for Von Trier.
Loose Change: Final Cut (2007)
A must see for every up growing scholar
"Louder then words" made a very interesting point of view on 9/11 with this Final Cut edition of Loose Change. Documentaries like this will be broadcast on quality TV channels like BBC or CANVAS (here in Belgium) when time is ripe. (Read : when the people on earth have awoken) Guilty or not question of certain governments is left at the viewers decision, but certain fact simply can't be ignored ! (WTC 7 collapse and the ridiculously low budget of the general 9/11 investigation) Anyway, very well made, but at present day still boycotted tactically far away from the eyes of television audience. The reason why young adults and scholars should see this documentary is the fact that most of them were to young in 2001 to fully understand what happened back then and the consequences for the world after that particular date. The second reason is that youth is the future of our world and they are the ones to draw lessons from our mistakes (in a better way as we have handled with genocide and dissolving democracies in our time-line ) An 8 for excellent research and editing.
Fitna (2008)
Showing the evil side of Islam, but leaving the question "why" open (again)
Only a five because this movie is just a copy & paste of various internet & television flicks with very little self made input. The content of the film is quite shocking and not suited for minors because the movie shows some explicit material from the last three huge terror attacks that shocked the western hemisphere and a lot of bloody scenes. Although most or even all of the shown pictures and flicks are real, it never explains 'why' the ordinary people from Islamic AND our countries are so easy influencable and easy angered. Pro or contra Islamic propaganda movies like this one are an important reason that a lot of people are being brainwashed worldwide and no God is going to change that. This Geert Wilders creation brings nothing new to the world, and it thinks for you, which in my opinion is a very bad way to make a documentary. The day on which people can not think for themselves anymore, it is time to close the book of humankind!
