Long Live Rock: Celebrate the Chaos (2019)
Pandering to the camera
This had potential to be good but it just falls flat. It is about rock as a community. It is so obvious that the people in it are pandering to the camera and not being their true selves.
The music in the movie is great if you love rock and metal music but the subjects pandering, make it unwatchable. It feels as if the movie was rushed to be put together, because this is so obvious. The lady who blasts music with her kids in the car, is just brutal. Juggalos interviewed in other movies, feel more authentic.
I came in excited to see Andy BIersack, and Linkin Park and walked away wanting my hour and a half back Do not watch this for your favorite musician. Heck, do not watch this.
Imaginary Mary (2017)
Worth a flier
On paper, the show's premise turned me away but I found myself watching ten minutes of it and not turning it off. Mary is more of the voices in the main character's head, a la JD's voice overs in Scrubs. I hate to compare the two shows but that is the heart of Imaginary Mary- an insecure character like Scrubs. Give it a chance, you will probably be surprised.
Monday Night Gig (2005)
Definitely worth a flyer
I see the bad reviews on here of this movie and want to highlight its good aspects because it is not a horrible movie. I will admit that my rating is skewed a little because I caught it on Amazon Prime recently, which doesn't have much of a selection and is full of junk. This movie is far from junk. I do feel that it falls into the trap of not catering to a wide audience. As someone who has been in several bands and once had a dream similar to that of the main character, I found myself attracted to the movie. While the plot is pretty far fetched, it is relate-able to anyone who has ever been in a garage band. If you don't take this movie seriously and are looking for an odd movie to be better than average background noise, you could do a lot worse than this movie. I probably won't watch it again but it will definitely come up in conversation and be recommended to my friends because it was a little too real.
Tenured (2015)
everything that 'Bad Teacher' should have been
If Kate Flannery didn't plug it on KTLA, I would have never given it a chance. As someone who has grown up with teachers and worked in schools myself, I found myself laughing out loud. The people behind the movie did a great job of creating the ambiance of how it is in schools. In one of the first few scenes, the main character has a talk with a student that is disciplinary in nature, and that scene alone hit the nail on the head as to what it is like to work in a school. It is a great movie and everything that 'Bad Teacher' should have been. My only nitpick is that the principal character could have done a better job of being built up as a villain.
