Made Men (1999)
amusing, good action and cheesy
i was hoping this was going to be good as a fan of timothy dalton's james bond and although it wasn't his deserved '3rd bond outing' it was a laugh. Belushi brought some good humour to his part and dalton hammed it up nicely, but was probably underused. his part was liked a camped up version of jack nicholson in a few good men. the other brit in it was a bit shocking, but overal it was a laugh.
The Living Daylights (1987)
Dalton should have done more Bonds!
Timothy Dalton is tough, witty, good with the ladies and dangerous looking, all vital for the Bond role. Shame he couldn't have come along sooner to elbow roger moore and his zimmer frame from the role. Dalton still looks young enough at 57 to play bond today. He should have done more as he'll never have the same recognition as Connery and Moore who did so many.
Die Another Day (2002)
Better, but call it a day Pierce
So Bond is going against his boss again. Strange how Timothy Dalton gets slated for doing that in Licence to Kill but Die Another Day gets praise for a return to form for Brosnan. Brosnan is ageing fast like roger moore's later bond's and it might be time to hand over the role pierce. die another day is reasonable, despite halle berry's failed attempt to once again show bond has 'met his match' in a woman. madonna's embarrasing cameo and the villains who are about as dangerous as graham norton and look like chakie chan and ron howard. the cars are nice and the effects good, brosnan is ok, but is only doing what connery, moore and dalton did before him. The sex scenes are getting more intense, in a bid to juice up the failing scripts and judi dench is also playing it too serious and still thinks she has to show being a woman boss is revolutionary.
i hear connery is directing the next one. they should give timothy dalton his 3rd go as bond to finally give him the real blockbuster he deserves to give him really widespread appeal.
The World Is Not Enough (1999)
Brosnan's worst Bond yet
007 has taken a plunge for the worst. Not only is robery carlyle embarassing as the villain, judi dench is once again playing M as somebody who doesn't like violence and is irritatingly frightened to let Bond do his job. Although Bond is not always believable, Denise Richards is ridiculously unplausable. As the film goes on, each time bond escapes from certain death i found myself either laughing with embarassment or just wishing it was over. Bond 19 left me in dismay, must do better.
GoldenEye (1995)
Okay, but nothing Dalton couldn't have done.
Brosnan has no defining feature as Bond. He tries to camp it up like Roger Moore, be serious and human like Dalton and be unrealistically tough like Connery, who never got a scratch on him. The result is ok for Goldeneye, where anything would have been welcome after a 6 year gap from Licence to Kill, but Brosnan gets boring quickly. This should have been Timothy Dalton's ticket to being recognised as the best Bond with a wider audience.
Licence to Kill (1989)
Dalton is the best Bond
Licence to Kill has a mixture of all the essential Bond attributes. Dalton is an action man and a more sensitive and moody Bond in this film. Shame he turned down the chance to do Goldeneye, that would have made him a mega star.
