Treadstone (2019)
A good try at a Bourne spin off
I won't bleat on about this too much, but this a fairly good try at a spin off of the Jason Bourne films.
The positives being the action scenes are quite dramatic and at pace. Acting fairly decent and has some twists throughout.
The negatives being the confusing back story where it flits to 1973 and present day and how they interject at some point. It would have been better if they stuck to episodes in one era then the other.
Season 2 looks promising as 1973 looks to have been closed off.
Watchmen (2019)
It's not just a Hero story
Binge watch it. It's the best way. Episode 1-3 takes a lot of effort to watch but stick with it. All you Sci-fi fans will love it.
In the Long Run (2017)
Is it a comedy?
Expectations were set high when Sky announced Idris was making a comedy set in the 80's so was excited by the prospect. However, sadly let down. The music sound bites every 5 minutes, the poor script, and the small points of mentioning what was going on in the UK at the time. Yes we get it - it's the 80's, we get it!! Plus Idris' character drives around in a T registration top of the range Cortina. I don't think so.
The Open House (2018)
No logic whatsoever
Save yourself some time. Watch the trailer as this is what you get. A few good scares but no logic in situations throughout the movie.
I know the genre means that victims play dumb, but in this movie the lead characters have no sense.
To make the film enjoyable the writers missed some tricks and should have spent some time explaining 'why?' rather than letting the audience come to their own conclusions, which in fact you couldn't because so much of the core situations were closed books before they ended, and the film move then onto the next part of the story.
