Regular Show: The Real Thomas (2014)
Who wrote this episode, Joseph McCarthy??
Here's an episode that manages to clumsily force itself into the continuity through incredibly lazy means. It has Benson broken up off-screen and even going as far as to awkwardly talk about it, Rigby is annoying, and it was the only episode I didn't really laugh at (I only chuckled once at the whale eating the evil Russian woman, that's it). The whole "Thomas is a Russian spy" is executed poorly by having several past moments be rewritten to allegedly be "evil all along" moments. Not to mention actually crossing from playing around with old Cold War jokes like the Animanyets did years later (While Animanyets still at least had the courtesy to self-deprecate) to actual Russophobia with their "Eagleland" mentality as they all cry "USA!!! USA!!!" unironically in this episode. Even Rocky IV was less Russophobic than this episode, and that movie was made years ago! This episode feels like during production, Joseph McCarthy rose from his grave and either wrote the episode himself or held the writers at gunpoint if they didn't do as he said.
As far as I'm concerned, this episode should not be considered canon.
The Jungle Book: Mowgli's Story (1998)
The Bungle Schnook
"Now your whole family can relive Disney's 'The Jungle Book', from Mowgli's point of view."
Haw! Now THAT is some serious false advertising.
This takes the concept of The Jungle Book and reduces it down to merely "boy is raised by wild animals and shenanigans happen". This film has no real sense of thrill or danger nor any of the mystic charm that was present in all other depictions of The Jungle Book. It takes all that and replaces it with corny gags and bare bones storytelling.
Kids deserve better than this.
Lastly, on a VERY petty, nitpicky note, there is a LOT more misplaced wildlife in this movie than in all, but one other depiction of The Jungle Book (The Jungle Book 2 in case you're wondering). Macaws, chimpanzees, and American black bears are not in India.
