ATM (2012)
Interesting enough, but comes up short
There was an interesting premise here and the movie was suspenseful enough to keep me entertained. The acting was good as well as the overall production. The story kind of came up short when it came to expectations from how it opened. It's natural for a movie like this to have characters making stupid decisions, so one can overlook that. Still, I wanted something more. It was an average movie, but for me it came up a bit short of getting a 5 rating from me, so I was going to go with a 4/10. That was until the ending came around. The ending was just too stupid not to knock the rating down to a 3.
Amber Alert (2012)
Ruined by a Character
It was a decent enough movie. Cool idea and I was interested in what would happen next. Acting and production were fine as well. However, certain things really bring it down. The police's involvement for one. They literally said they called off the amber alert at one point. Just didn't make sense. The 3 people who pursued the vehicle had the number of the guy in the vehicle and didn't think to give it to the police. Pretty sure with that information, they could geo-locate him in no time at all. It's not uncommon for a movie like this to have people making stupid decisions though, but there is one glaring thing that made me lower this from a 5 to a 4. The female character. She is so ridiculously annoying almost the entire time. She is completely unhinged and stupid. It's admirable that the character wants to help the little girl, but the character makes it almost unwatchable.
Hot Seat (2022)
Modern Day Phone Booth
If you've ever seen Phone Booth (2002), this movie is like the modern day hacker version of that. Now don't get me wrong, Phone Booth, even being 20 years old, is a much better film. Hot Seat definitely has some bad performances by a few actors and the overall cinematography could be better. With that being said, the story is interesting and the action keeps you engaged. Definitely worth a watch at least once.
Scream: Revelations (2015)
Great show, great finale
I love the nostalgia that this show entails. This season was done really well and this finale tied things up nicely. The killer was predictable in a kind of process of elimination kind of way, which is fine. There were so many things pointing to different characters except for Piper meaning she was the perfect option. I was completely sure it was her after episode 8. At the same time, someone who doesn't have the kind of mind that I do probably found this completely unexpected. Either way, it felt like is was wrapped up nicely and a perfect homage to the movie series. Well done.
Freshwater (2016)
Not Great
Just your typical super gator killing teens movie.. or is it? So this movie had bad acting, bad editing, no real flow, and bad transitions. Honestly it felt like it was a high school movie project. Still thought, it was entertaining enough for me to watch until the end. For that, I'm glad because that was certainly an interesting twist or two at the end.
Blockers (2018)
Average
I went into this movie expecting it to be average and it was exactly that. It was entertaining enough with some laugh out loud parts here and there. Nothing special.
Sharknado (2013)
Terrible movie
Not often am I not able to finish a movie, but this has joined the club.
First, it's a really stupid idea for a movie. Sharks flying through the air? Come on. Second, everything looks beyond fake. This had to be pretty low budget. I think I could do a better job of editing with basic software. Also, horrible acting. Oh no, my leg is missing... ahhhh.... What I don't understand is why Tara Reid signed up for this, and if I'm not mistaken, she is in the sequel and will be in the third. That also brings me to the point of how can such an awful movie spawn 2 sequels?
All I can really say is yikes.
High School Musical 3: Senior Year (2008)
About the same as the first two
I felt the same about all 3 movies really. I'd say my least favorite was the first, then this one. All pretty close though. I did come up with a few problems that I had with this movie as well.
1. Championship is being played on their home court again.
2. They won back to back championships on buzzer beating 2 pointers to win by 1. That seems realistic.
3. Why does Sharpay all of a sudden have a double locker? 4. How does Sharpay go from bad person to good person to bad person to good person to bad person again.
5. Why is every show this school does a musical? Wouldn't they do a normal play every now and then? 6. Troy has performed in 1 school performance up to the start of this movie, yet somehow he's one of the people with a chance for a scholarship at a school as amazing as Juilliard.
7. There is no way Troy would learn to Waltz that quickly.
8. What is with these movies and having sprinklers/rain fall on Gabriella and Troy? 9. Would you really chase someone who has your clothes around the whole school if you only had a towel on? 10. How rude does a person have to be to say an invitation wasn't good enough? 11. Troy gets white paint on his hands from the fence, but Gabriella doesn't. They both grabbed it in the same area.
12. How does a truck with as many problems as Troy's drive 1053 miles to Stanford and back? 13. What is up with this movie having so many songs repeated? 14. It was said that the show was 2 days after prom. Troy went to Stanford on the day of the prom. If they wanted to get back in time for the show, they could have because they obviously had more than 24 hours to get back.
15. Even if U of A was a real school, it would most likely not be D1, and it would be almost impossible for them to be on Cal's schedule.
16. From experience, the valedictorian usually wears something special to distinguish them from the rest at graduation. Gabriella was valedictorian, but wore nothing special.
17. The choreography for these movies were usually pretty good, but a good part of the final song in this movie looked like a round of the harlem shake. Maybe it's because they have the baggy graduation gowns on.
About the same amount of problems I had as the other two, so yea, all 3 movies fairly equal in how much I liked them.
I just have to add this. When Gabriella yells Troy in the opening song, it sounds like Wes from Emblem3 singing Chloe.
High School Musical 2 (2007)
Better then the first
I liked this one a little bit better then the first movie. Once again, I did come up with some parts that I found out of sync.
1. Why on earth did Troy slide on his stomach after the opening song? 2. Why did Troy look left first when Gabriella's locker was on the right? Wouldn't he know by now where her locker is? 3. How would the entire kitchen staff be students from East High? Did they not have any other workers before? 4. All these kids were complaining about how they couldn't get jobs and then they get a job at a country club. Talk about one of the best jobs you could ask for as a high schooler. Somehow they find a way to complain about it.
5. In "You Are the Music in Me" Troy and Gabriella hardly ever look at the music and somehow know all the words. Also there are drums being played and there are background singers that don't exist.
6. When talking to the U of A board members, one of them mentions Troy's game winning shot. Troy then tells him that wouldn't have happened if his teammates didn't steal the ball. The only problem is that Troy was the one who stole the ball.
7. Troy gets promoted to a job that gives him $500 per week, which would equal out to $26,000 a year. There is no way he would get paid that for what he was doing, especially with no past experience.
8. Chad apparently plays baseball, but handles the bat as if he doesn't know what baseball is.
9. Troy explains that he's acting the way he is for the scholarship and Gabriella responds with pretty soon that's who you become. Oh yea, a high school junior is a real expert on life, right? 10. Troy asks Sharpay what was the first thing she said to him there and they say we're all in this together. She did say that to him, but it wasn't even close to the first thing said, that was more like "Hey boys, so Troy, I thought it was time for you to meet my parents".
11. There is no way Troy could have learned "Every day" in its entirety in such a short time.
12. Everyday is another song where there is a mysterious drummer hiding somewhere.
13. The Evans' father is always telling Ryan to fix his hat, including after he wins the star dazzle award, but his hat is perfectly straight at that moment.
14. If you got Miley Cyrus on your set, why only show her for 4 seconds?
Yay, 4 less then the first movie! Good movie though.
High School Musical (2006)
Overall - a decent movie
I liked the movie, I really did. I have, however, come up with a few things that bothered/annoying me.
1. Half of the song "Start of Something New" neither person is looking at the lyrics.
2. No way did Troy enter his number into Gabriella's phone that quick.
3. A high school basketball championship game wouldn't be played in January.
4. Most high schools wouldn't allow someone to carry a basketball around with them everywhere like Chad does.
5. While Ms. Darbus was taking cell phones away, Troy had plenty of time to put his away, but I guess he wanted detention.
6. Why would someone get detention just for saying Troy has basketball practice.
7. Hey Troy, if coach said to fake right and break left, maybe you should listen. (He faked left and broke right) 8. Ms. Darbus says free period is now over, but I never heard the bell. Maybe she meant auditions are now over? 9. Callbacks were scheduled for next Thursday (changed to Friday) and end up being the same day as the basketball game, but the game is supposed to be 2 weeks from then.
10. How were the nachos the only thing that fell off of Gabriella's tray? 11. How did Sharpay not see Gabriella in the bathroom? 12. Why is Troy wearing number 10 in practice when he is number 14? Your number is sacred in sports, so you would wear it in practice.
13. How would a basketball championship game be played only 20 minutes after school gets out? Championship games are always played at night anyways.
14. I doubt the championship game would be played on their home court.
15. The scoreboard at the start of the game showed the score 8-8 with 7:58 on the clock. High school basketball consists of 4 quarters of 8 minutes each meaning 16 points were scored in 2 seconds.
16. Ms. Darbus says it's far too late when Troy and Gabriella get there, but it's only 30 seconds after she called their names. How does that small amount of time make it far too late? 17. When doing the callback, they have to stop because Gabriella is nervous, but Troy was supposed to sing first anyways. Also, the lights don't dim and the background doesn't come until after Troy talks to Gabriella.
18. Who's playing the drums during this song? Okay, so it was more then a few.
Even with all these negative things that I came up with, I did still like it.
