A spoof of NC films?
12 June 2022
I don't understand how anyone could you like this movie seriously. This is similar to other actors making themselves out like they're cool. John Malkovich is one of those guys he's really not that good. Neither is Nicolas Cage. I don't understand why people think he's a good actor. Great locations to do the film, though. Where is that?

People who hate this want everything spelled out for them aka video game lovers

I wasn't sure where this is going. It's really WTF is happening. So Read the synopsis and now I totally get it. This is not some wouldn't it be nice story of some apocalyptic catastrophe. It is one man left alone after all humans have passed on. The film is so much more real than what other films would be like.

Apocalypse is will be much harder than what stupid films you are watching to make it a spectacle. It won't be. Wake up.

Meeting Jim (2018)
10/10
Hahaaa! I met Jim, too!
31 March 2022
How could I be the 2nd reviewer of this!? Insane. Well, at least I am the first 'too'! :)

What a guy. I was asked to be a part of this, but I guess I didn't make the cut.

I stayed at his atelier for a month when I had nowhere to stay, and helped with the dinners doing those times. But it's how I found out bait him that I find amazing. I was reading the Sydney Morning Herald in 1983 about him. I think they even published his phone number, too. I said to myself that I am going to this when I get to Europe.

1992, I call him on a Thursday because I don't want to miss a chance to go to the Sunday dinner. He says he hasn't even thought about Sunday. Call him Saturday. I do. He says sure, no problem, but it is not at his place that night, it will be at a theatre for a one-person performance of Truman Capote. Also, instead of the 80FF donation - to cover costs of food - any extra is given to charity - it' 150FF. I said, man, I am hard pressed to even pay 80FF. Can we do 100FF? Sure, he says. I'd rather have you there than the money.

So, I go. I see the box office window, and a tall older guy dressed all in black, with a high polo neck jumper. This must be where Steve Jobs got the idea. I give the money in an envelope, as requested, to the girl there. She opens it, to the tell me th ticket is 110FF. I don't know what to do. I look around, trying to find a solution, then look at the tall guy in back. Is that Jim, I quiz to myself? He looks at me, looks at the money, and tosses 10FF to the girl. I'll never forget that.

The performance was fin, not that I knew anything about TC, but I met 2 stunning, and I mean really stunning, Kurdistan sisters who live in Sweden. If they read this, say hi. Frederick Malouf in Sydney. That would be hilarious! :)

Do you know Jim is the guy that created the idea of couchsurfing? He had books published with people happy to invite travellers to their homes and what they'd like to share. Write them a letter, get a reply back, and you're sorted. OK, he may not have come with the idea itself, but to be able to know so many people to find. Way to publish paperbacks to GIVE to people. You get the idea?

What a guy.

:)

This is beyond terrible. Forget it. Just don't go there.
9 February 2022
5 min in. Honest, that was trying. Utterly atrocious.

I've just come from watching Lapsis (2020), another low-budget film. That has a story. That has subtle nuances that are really interesting. It's a really good film.

TLT is a total waste of effort. I criticise actors looking like they are told to do this and that. I see that in the latest Dune (2021). Horrible acting. This is way, way, way, way, way, way ... way worse.

0 stars.

It's really a good film. Kelly LeBrock is great under the circumstances
17 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I really like this film. Lots of comedy affair type movies. It's a great story to watch. Are women this forward!? I'm missing something.

Yes, Kelly LeBrock is really attractive, and just so cool. Great lips, but it's how she speaks that is really beautiful. The modelling shots stuck. The hairstyles are terrible. How did anyone get away with those?

Getting to the love scene is really not good. Let's the rest of the movie down, but I guess the fait pais was necessary for antics that happen.

I love how Kelly LeBrock speaks. Classy. Few people speak like this.

This film is terrible
2 September 2021
Thought this would be good because Ryan Reynolds is in it. I was wrong.

Is this meant to be a remake of The in-Laws 1979? OMG ... No comparison. The '79 version is hilarious. This 2003 one is junk.

What a vivid journey to experience!
24 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Wow. What a film. The story might be basic, but the direction and cinematography is extraordinary. Alicia is always her sexual self. She knows how to play that perfectly, in all her films. And Dev does a great job feeling the character. It is really honest. For lots of fantasy films, there are always stops and starts. It's always the characters for the sake of entertainment. TGK flows. It's an entranced wonder of discovery, and even the ending journey is unexpected. A masterpiece of direction.

Over the top with a message delivered in a disempowering way.
23 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I have to admit I couldn't finish it. I fast forwarded to the zoo. Is this film about accepting other for their differences? Is that it? And you just want me to do this morally? Because I have to give time in my life to someone to be cute with, because it's a moral right? Add this Baku thing, and it feels like another story where wisdom is attained outside of self. Maybe I am too harsh, but the voices were infuriating to listen to.

Someone else wrote a review saying this is the most entitled film they've ever seen. With all the inferred psychedelics, and that only such people have the wisdom to see whole, I'm not surprised.

While we apply social structures where we pick sides, no one wins. But money is the greatest divider. Does any new age guru understand that, and live it, as an example for all to follow? Even Osho was a rabid capitalist. It is amazing people ignore to see that.

Use models that pick no/all sides. Only then can holistic wisdom scale. BUXXB.

Brilliant!

Warning: Spoilers
Wow! Seeing Daniel Craig not be James Bond was the first shock. And then going through the movie where you feel like it's going to do the same thing of a family trying to get back it's inheritance are you almost give up but you hang on a little bit longer and it all comes together in the end. Daniel Craig did a fantastic job in presenting a powerful character that didn't have to be a fictional pseudo masculine man. The end is extrordinary.

So worth the watch.

I thought The Invisible Man was meant to be a good guy.
31 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Credit to the fact that it was a compelling movie to see to the end, but the topic and delivery are pretty generic. It's just another psycho thriller.

What's more worrying is that a man who can be technically so successful and being such an incredible home want to own a woman in such a way. Why would someone want to be with a woman by keeping her prisoner? That is the most insane part of all. 1% home woman by imprisoning her. One 'owns' her by keeping her free. That is what Mena 4. To keep her free.

Men are such idiots. Classless attitude, gentlemen. Moitessier would have been ashamed for men to be this thick. The difference between solo and team racers ...

I've sailed the Atlantic. An amazing experience. I met the female Ocean One winner in 1994. She was a giant. I helped set up Taipan for the Whitbread at that time. I knew buttkiss about sailing then. Still don't much.

This is awesome. What a shame we make it so hard for people to achieve excellence. It doesn't need attitude to make it harder.

Go girls.

King Hussein should have been there from the get go. At least he was there in the 3nd.

Green Book (2018)

An interesting film with an interesting relationship. Rare in the honesty.
28 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
OK. Now I didn't like the piano playing much.

However, it didn't make the film flowery, it didn't demean the character of a gentleman, in both their interpretations.

I also read the family of Donald Shirley were not consulted on the film, man's, of course, the film doesn't tell the true story of the DS had to go through. If it helps, I can 0nly say to please not think he has been compromised.

It also taught me that a Green Book exists. Like seriously? And sundown towns? Jesus, you Americans are up. And still today you do this to people because of colour? You only show how scared you are about your disempowerment.

It's an interesting film. Of relationships of empowerment. These gentlemen are presenting their differences with honour, together. Not a black man at the mercy of a white guy. They needed each other. To the family of DS, honestly, he is presented as an extraordinary educated gentleman.

And living on top of Carnegie Hall? Wow. i used to live on top of a room of a swanky pub. That was cool at the time. That's about it.

Movies are never real, more bromides to allay our reality of compromise in cages. But humanity is learning. Now if only I could find someone who wanted to do a film on the true disempowerment of money, and how it leads to disempowering discrimination like this.

That last scene in Birmingham is awesome. Those whities were such losers.

How people think power is built on compromise, segregation, and dominion are pathetic.

PS (at the risk of DS's critique of such a format of writing), I really hope Viggo didn't really put on so much weight for his role.

Yeah, na.
8 January 2020
Obviously many people are taken by this film. To be honest, however, I really don't get it. I found it self-centred and all about glorifying this family. Always good to push for what we want but it seems strange that we do this more than people playing actors then true creators that makes stories possible.

I don't see what benefits people dealing with cancer and overcoming it. it just showed one persons journey with the money has to be able to do it. And then on top of that it's a movie just about then, not about what it does for you.

I quote this to the usual self-centered Bondi attitude that everyone seems to have about saying to make a world a better place but really it's just about themselves.

So I don't get it.

This is so hard to watch.
5 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I really don't know why Robin Williams did this movie. The subject matter is terrible to watch. Loneliness is a very tough thing for people to handle but to self destruct to the point of getting obsessed with other people is really not good. Anything that compromises others it's just terrible at any time.

Of course the manager is a dick.

It certainly is unusual for something serious for Robin Williams to pick.

It's never a good thing to handle people this way. Just forget them and make a life for yourself, alone or otherwise.

Warning: Spoilers
This is such an extraordinary film. Why it works is the criminals are such amazing gentleman. Well, 3 of 5 are amazing gentleman. How Andy Garcia respects women is amazing. How he romances Gabrielle Anwar is just so cool. These guys just had a bad beat and they were doing what they could to survive. Not crunchy just a choice they were left with.

I can't understand the people who gave this bad reviews, admittedly 20 years ago. Maybe they grew up .

Yep, it does have some weird slang and people say give it a name a lot but the lead characters I really well fleshed out. A league of extraordinary gentlemen without the crap.

Warning: Spoilers
I don't like Adam Devine. His screams in films is annoying. I don't get how people don't cringe when they hear it. And while the subject of being owned by a phone is interesting, the vulgar language just becomes gratuitous. It isn't necessary. And there is no way a girl like her would be interested in such a dufus. Further, to make it cool to be a reckless driver is really bad. Be fast, be quick, but don't be stupid.

I've been watching some old films and the contrast of what made an actor great then as now is a chasm. Freedom to express one's independence in creative choices doesn't mean losing so much class as to be this pathetic.

Movies don't have originality any more. It's a shame this film on selfie emptiness is wasted on presenting the total absurdity of presenting identity.

It's 0K, but ...
31 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
There is no question Charlize Theron is so crazy sexy and she really knows her stuff. You can see it right in the beginning, but then to match that with Seth is so weird. He's not even close to strong enough for her. And you can tell that they're laughing at each other when they're together.

A great film to show how people are trying to make change towards protecting the environment, though. I'm sure it was how incredibly inept and fake politics really is. A total waste of money, like defence, militarizing police, let alone banking itself.

What an extraordinary sequel!
31 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Wow! I didn't know what to expect and watched it simply to see how they would have developed a story. This is the best by far! What I really like, what made such an amazing difference is that even the evil toy only wanted to be good. This makes a villain story so different and extraordinary because all bad people a good at heart given the opportunity. Not only that, the heroes were not affected by the evil toy.

What a story to express human empowerment. Truly amazing! Way better even them the first LEGO movie to express the same point.

I hope people learn from this what Human nature really is.

Alec Baldwin is a terrible casting choice.
31 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know how they could make John DeLorean look so terrible using Alec Baldwin. He looks so unnatural and so contrived it shows no character of what the man is like. I think they just thought that because Alec Baldwin thinks he's amazing with women that they would pick him to play John but there are so many better people who would be so much more natural than Alec Baldwin. What a terrible casting choice. It makes the rest of the film a cringe to watch despite some interesting details about the man who self and how we got busted for drugs.

You could have got William Baldwin and that would have been better.

9 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Really educational doco. But honestly, how are gofi to right this? It's also not so much collecting data, but what it's use for.

The dilemma is it's used for manipulation towards power for self and disempowerment of people. This is a long standing cycle of life; With Money.

Why arent we analysing the disempowerment of usury currency and if there is another way? Why don't we understand that it's the fact people inherently trust which is why we get into so much trouble listening to people manipulating us?

I hope someone does a story on currency in the same style as this doco. Not banks. Money itself.

Fingers crossed.

This is so stupid. Why are we still thinking this is real?
9 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Oh, man ...

2019 and Netflix are showing this stupidity? And the punch line is Rounders, for luck of a better word, vehemently deny this?

To say to look at the horizon, even off a hill, and say the earth is flat is denial. The curve is obvious. To say a plane has to keep dipping is mindless. It's beyond ironic that that these idiots use satellite tech and fly planes to discuss that the scientists who brought this technology together are foolig you. Someone uses the app Flight 24 and says there is no south pole, so they means the earth is flat? Did she talk to the creators to ask? Even if it was true?

And a conspiracy for that end?

If you idiot FEs did your research, this idiocy was on.y created in the 19th century as some bogus cult.

Really, you people really need to wake up. Of all the things to attack, you pick somethimg they has no relevance to the greater good. How does this solve hunger, education, empowerment? You all sit there with scientific tools and no reference to use them.

If you were honest, you'd be speaking to scientists, not play religion. Everyone I've seen who discusses this plays cult strategies to get support. Ask yourself whet is wrong with you to believe without proof? Ask yourself why you sound like an evangelist and can't show any science to back it up?

Here's a simple test for your thinking: do you think usury currency is a conspiracy? Do you think money solves the world's problems?

Wake up.

Regurgitated emptiness
18 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It's interesting how the pro Christina follow this like it is a tool to have faith rather than a confirmation of belief. As usual, God is evasive, especially about salvation. He doesn't answer why bad things happen but more pertinent is what human nature to warrant that bad things happen. Bad is objectifiied without asking why bad things happen. No, it isn't god's fault that they do. That's our problem.

Considering it is based around wa, why not ask what drives people to war as a means of power v love as empowerment? Why keep asking the same questions that cannot be answered because the framework for the questions asked is limited?

As usual, the American market makes God's love obliging, hence this attachment. Same thing happened with City of Angels versus Wings of Desire. One is inspiring, the other chocking. Terrible.

Seriously, what kind of God creates bad things to make you servant to love? Really? God needs to love himself more.

Why watch the dramatisation when you can see the real story?
5 June 2018
Watch the doco on the man and the race here: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0460766/reference.

Way better than this. This really captures nothing of what it is like to be on the water alone. It is interesting we idolise the failure when the heroes in the race are so amazing. I feel sorry for the man, but what a crazy undertaking to take with so little experience. No one is really capturing what the real people are like.

The doco is amazing. I've watched so many times because the characters themselves are so incredibly different in themselves.

FYI, in this first race, it took about 9-10 months. Today, the record is shy of 43 days. This is usually contested every 4 years with the Vendee Globe, but there are always independent challenges. Truly amazing.

Great execution
18 May 2018
The story isn't new, but to see comics make a noir film is really interesting. And how they ha e done it really good.

It isn't mainstream, but does it need to be?

Love the colour range, the neon, the quasi-Bond music. And Margot Robbie! Wow. She might be attractive, OK, but what right execution of her character. She can act! Very impressive.

Why would people give this a low rating? I think they miss the art of how the story is told. Not fandango, but still: Robbie, the music, the colour cast ...

Warren Beatty did Dick Tracy in 6 colours. This reminds me of that film.

The best films are like music in pictures. This is one of them. :)

How did he fill so many things in one film?
2 March 2018
I want to talk to the director. Just when one can think you have seen all of how directors can shoot films, this comes. So good!

There are narratives that are obvious to decipher, but there are too many details to warrant I have the whole picture.

YES! What is the point of those cutaway shots in films! I realised I was watching a series of vignettes but with the same characters mixed in with different stories. Really incredible piece of work the more I look at it. The 'juxtaposition' of the civilised v primal world. That scene with the actor being an ape not letting it go. That scene itself demonstrates a huge amount!

I am about 10-15min from the end, so I do not know the punchline(s) yet. I am kind of expecting all the stories to fit together in a really cohesive way.

So cool to see an intelligent film without the generic storylines. I am quote critical of many 'controversial' films and their lack of scope in discussing the topics they do yet are sold as points of discussion, if nothing else, but The Square adds so much more to the plate. But of course, the issues demonstrated in the film ALL come down to the exchange models we use to value ourselves and our social structures. If we do not change that, we do not change anything. Look @NEUbank if you want to know more about that.

Thank you for a great film. :)
