Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 (2011)
A great ending to the series, better than I expected.
I was really worried about this last movie. Part 1 was good, but I knew that wouldn't mean this one was gonna be. Luckily, they pulled it of. In the beginning I was worried. It seemed as if things were happening to fast and that they didn't really make the Gringotts scene as big and meaningful as I felt it was in the book. Of course, if this was happening in the middle of a movie, which it would if the two parts were put together, it wouldn't be very strange. Still, even for that it was too fast, in my opinion. However, the movie picked up very well after that. Things slowed down, and you started to feel everything that was happening. Now I'm not an enormous Harry Potter fan, though I've read the books and seen the movies, so I might not even remember all the details that they might have missed. Still, to say that it was bad of them not to include more stuff, is unfair. Most Harry Potter books are fatter than holy hell, and even though the last one wasn't as big as for example the fifth, it still contained lots of information and details in the storyline, and trying to squeeze that in to two movies would be impossible. They managed to put a lot of the story into part 2, and I think they did it well. Even though for example Snapes memory scene was shorter than I had hoped, it still gave you the right feel. And of course the big battle could have been shown a little more, you know just a few minutes of footage of people killin' each other and stuff blowing up. That would have been nice. Fred's death was also a little to "small" They should have made a bigger deal out of it. But considering all the good qualities of the film (especially CGI and the way they played out a lot of key moments, like the thing where Harry almost dies and goes to the train station thing, I loved that) it hardly even matters to me that they did some stuff differently. And yeah, the final fight scene between Harry and Voldemort, so what if they weren't in the middle of a crowd, seriously, who gives a crap? Loved that they included the "19 years later scene". Too bad that they didn't make more out of it, but once again: Who gives a crap? Overall, Great movie, a totally fine ending to the Harry Potter series.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (2010)
Great game! A few flaws, but totally fine.
I've played the original Bad Company. Even though I am a Halo-fan, I find myself enjoying a lot of other stuff, like for example BF:BC. Now, when I first bought this game, I was a little disappointed about the graphics. I mean, the graphics aren't bad, it's just that I honestly think they were better and more realistic in the first game. Still, Bad Company was totally awesome, and it would be really hard to beat that. I'm not sure, but I think I heard somewhere that they worked pretty hard on that game. Still, the quality of Bad Company 2 are just fine. In fact, they're better than most games. Now, even if you at times could have expected more on that front, there's a lot of great stuff about this game that can't be ignored. The campaign is good. It's exciting, well thought out, and maybe a little more variety here than in the first game. Some of the missions are kinda short, which isn't great, but it doesn't make the campaign bad. It's still great. I enjoy re-playing the campaign. I find the weapons and vehicles to be fun, but it seems like they could have had a little more weapons. Still, in the multiplayer, there are tons of guns and vehicles, a lot of it can't be used in the campaign. Now that sucks, that you can't use all weapons in the campaign, but it's not that big a deal. The multiplayer however, is amazing. It's tons of fun, and the maps are huge, just as in the first game. One thing that they've changed in this game is that you now get 50 points for killing a dude, while in the first game you only got 10. Now, it's the same value, of course, but when you get more points, it just feels funnier to play. Anyway the campaign is great, you can blow stuff up everywhere and killin' people is just so much fun. There's a lot of variety here too, you know in weapons, vehicles, tactics, and environment. Something I almost forgot was, the destruction. Lovin' it. You can blow up virtually anything. Houses, trees, towers, vehicles (ofcourse), bridges and other structures, they can all be destroyed. If you jump in a tank, you can probably just drive through most things, too. It's easy creating big craters in the ground as well.
Below are a list of pros and cons.
GOOD
Campaign: Funny characters, good story, exciting options etc.
Weapons and Vehicles. Nice variety, mostly in multiplayer, Realistic sounds.
Multiplayer: Very fun and life-like. Lots of weapons. It's easy to get some nice teamwork going.
Destruction: Stuff just blows up everywhere you go! (Not in an annoying way, just fun)
BAD
Graphics: They could be better at times., but it's nothing to bitch about.
Missions: Some of them are a little short.
To sum up: Awesome games. A few flaws, but really nothing to bitch about. You should definitely buy it. As long as you like fun.
Skyline (2010)
First hour, good movie. After that, it kinda goes downhill.
This review could contain spoilers! I'll be honest, I'm usually the kinda guy who can overlook problems with the storyline and stuff like that. But towards the end of this movie it's just hard to be that generous. I mean, in the beginning it was great. Great special effects, nice action, and it was kinda creepy in an exciting way. I really liked it. Then the nuclear blast came and I was like "yeah, how did they survive that?". Of course, I don't know that much about nukes. I don't know if maybe you can make smaller bombs or something that don't wipe out such a big area, and doesn't spread as much radiation. Still, if you can't, that's still a flaw that I could live with. So, the movie goes on, and it still doesn't seem so bad. Special effects are still great. Unfortunately, when they close in on the helipad, it all kinda blows up. Everyone but the two are dead, which is kinda boring, and then they get into a really difficult situation and you think. "Man, how are they gonna get out of this? I doubt they'll die, it's to much time left on the movie, so there's gotta be something else planned!" And, no, they didn't die. But what happens is, they go up to the spaceship, Jared gets his head cut of, and as the for some reason red (?!) brain, probably caused by something with the light not being able to finish with it's red vain-transformation thing (I don't know, they never really explain that) is planted into a giant alien, the big snake-machine-thingy notices that the chick...Ell-something, is pregnant. For some reason it therefore takes her into a baby delivering room, probably because they need babies to power their space engines or whatever. Meanwhile Jareds red brain take over the alien it's in and he immediately knows where he is, smashes the wall to the "nursery" and saves the chick. And so, by sliding his claws over her face, she's all like: "...It's you...!" And then a bunch of other aliens jump in through the wall, and Jared's all like: "Bring it on!" And then the movie ends. Except for some photos of the big red brained alien punching some other aliens in the face during the credits, you don't really get to know what happens afterwards. Now, I don't wanna sound mean, but it's hard to understand how such a cool and exciting action movie could turn into such crap. I mean, did the writer just stop at 1:20:00 and say like: "Ya know what? Let's make it easy and just beam them aboard the ship and let them become aliens or something, that sound alright, huh?" Anyway, to sum it up, Until like 1:00:00, great movie. From that 'til 1:20:00, okay. After that, you might as well just shut of the TV, you'd enjoy it more not knowing how it ended.
National Treasure (2004)
Fantastic, underrated movie.
I decided to go to IMDb and check out some of the reviews people have written here. On the first page most people seemed to like it, so I decided to check number two. And beside from a few smart people who understands the movie, all I found was reviews telling me what crap this is. I honestly couldn't believe my eyes. I thought National Treasure was a great movie. It was smart, exciting, and funny. Nicholas Cage played his role great, and so did Justin Bartha. It wasn't the greatest movie of all time, but I still loved it. And yes, maybe this movie was meant for a little younger audience, but what is the harm in that? Did someone tell everyone that it was going to be for adults only? I don't know how it was in other countries, but in Sweden it was rated 7+. If that's not a pretty safe clue that it ain't meant only for adults, but for family and kids, then I don't know what the hell is. I thought it was a smart movie. Granted, I'm not the type of person who usually sits through mystery movies, or other stuff that requires some thinking, but I think a lot of people would enjoy this movie, even if they don't all think exactly like me. Still, I mean, if you didn't like the movie, you must have your reasons. Maybe I'm just some weird dude who likes bad films. I loved 2012, even though it had a lot of bad reviews. Still, this movie was very entertaining. It's probably not meant for some 30-year-old single guy sitting in his apartment with a bear, expecting some kind of awesome action movie, but for younger audiences and family movie nights, this is totally awesome, and deserves so much more good reviews than it's got.
The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009)
Good movie. Not perfect, but I liked it.
I thought this was a good movie. I read a bunch of the other reviews on here, and found out that apparently, not many people think like me. Now, I didn't see the original movie, so maybe that's why I liked this one. Maybe if I had seen the first one before this one, I wouldn't have cared for it as much. Still, it was fun, and I enjoyed watching it the whole time. A lot of people complain that, for example, the scene where a bunch of cars and motorcycles are driving through the streets of Manhattan, is an unnecessary scene. Now, that's probably true. It was kinda weird that they crashed as much as they did, but I don't see the big deal. I, for one, wanted action, and that's what I got from that scene. I didn't really care that they could have done something to improve the storyline there instead of just having a bunch of motorized vehicles fly through the streets, but what movie doesn't have a little unnecessary action in it, huh? Anyway, yes, it wasn't perfect in every way, but I still loved it. Both Denzel and Travolta were great, and the movie was really thrilling, according to me. I'd definitely recommend this movie to everyone who likes a little action, and a better than average storyline.
