In 1998 Godzilla was being hyped as the biggest movie of all time. If you can't remember just imagine back in 2009 when Avatar was released and it was hyped beyond belief and predicted to break box office records. Zilla was predicted to do the exact same thing in 1998, but it eventually fell short and is considered a flop by most. I on the other hand think it's a damn good movie. It has everything I want in a big budget action movie. But that's REALLY why people hate it. Because they don't look at it as a summer movie. Instead they look at it like it's supposed to be an epic like Lord of the Rings, a drama featuring a giant lizard, or a big ole tub of cheese like the Japanese Godzilla movies. This means that there's two kinds of people who hate on the 90s Godzilla. Nerds who love the crappy Japan version and movie Nazis who hate everything. I mean seriously, what do you expect from a movie about a giant lizard who is running around New York City? I personally got what I wanted from it. A fun action packed movie that kept me entertained for a few hours.
The picture about is another reason a lot pf people hated the new Godzilla. They hated him because he wasn't the bulky, slow moving, guy in a suit that is the original Godzilla. I personally think that Roland Emerich's Godzilla looks 10 times better than the thing below.
90s Zilla looks much more vicious and bad ass than Tokyo Zilla. I will admit though that if I was a big fan of Japan Godzilla i'd be very disappointed at the American design. But I'd also realize that most Americans (myself included) wouldn't pay money for the pure cheese plots that Japanese Godzilla movies have. Yes, Zilla battling another monster could be done okay if the right director did it but I think they took the right route by making this one a movie about Godzilla attacking a city. If you watch the 90s cartoon they make Zilla Jr. exactly how you want him anyways. So don't bitch about the movie version. As if a giant lizard would emerge from the Hudson river and run around the city and the mayor would say "ohhh lets make friends just in case another monster ever comes along."
Overall I thoughly enjoyed the movie for what it is. I enjoyed the bad acting, the story, and the very well done action scenes. This comes from a guy who really likes man vs beast movies though so IO'm probably just a little bit biased. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to sit down and have a good time watching a movie for a few hours. It's great for that.

The above review was taken from my blog so it might not make total sense, but I think it gets the jist of it.
Hell House (2001)
An accurate portrayal of the Christian culture
Yes, it was very accurate. I grew up in the church and this film is exactly how I remember my church years. I'm sure many are shocked and horrified at the actions and train of thought of the church, but I've been around it so long that I wasn't shocked at all by it. I think the reason why I didn't enjoy the movie is because it brought back a bunch of bad memories for me,but if I had never set a foot in a church before it likely would have fascinated me. With that said I was most intrigued by the fact that it seemed like these people were acting out their own fantasies. The guy whose wife left him was obviously writing out a fantasy in the scene he wrote where a woman is caught cheating and is then murdered was very disturbing because you could see some sort of sick wheels turning inside of his head while he watched the scene.
overall, if you've never been to a church you'll enjoy it but if you've spent time in a church you'll likely just see it as the same old same old.
