Crazy Jones (2002)
Incredible!
My only guess why there aren't any other reviews for this movie, is the extreme controversial nature of this film. However we shouldn't be afraid of what we don't understand, and that is what this movie brilliantly portrays.
You have a man who is nearing the age of 40, has turrets syndrome, and has the heart and innocence of a child. Yes, he is an adult and acts like one. But his intentions aren't like most adults his age. Whether its because of his disorder, or social isolation, he sees the world much like a child would. Sees things the way they should be seen; simply.
Then you have a child, the age of twelve, and undergoing cancer. As many know, going through a terminal disease and knowing you are going to die in a short matter of time can truly change a person. This girl had the soul of a 47 year old, and though she was young and innocent, she understood the complexities of life in a way that you could only see at deaths door.
Both characters find each other, and develop a powerful bond. Which isn't perverse, but instead based entirely on companionship.
Now I am not advocating people dating at age differences like that, I am merely entertaining the thought and idea that this movie suggests.
That, could it be possible for two people of such adverse ages to love each other? With the rare intention of true companionship, regardless of age?
Yes, the situation would have to be severely complex (as is in this movie) for it to be justifiable, but even so. Could it truly be so wrong?
I give this movie a 9 out of 10, for giving me such an unbelievable perspective that nobody else would dare to even suggest, and executing it so brilliantly.
The Rapture (1991)
Ignorance, narcissism, and a dash of vanity
This movie was AWFUL. And this is not coming from an Athiest's perspective.
This film is the prime example of why people think Christians everywhere are loony bible heads with nothing better to do than to tell you, "Your going to hell"
And that was literally the message of the whole thing. Actual quotes taken from the movie consisted of "if you don't believe in God, your going to hell" "if you don't love him your going to hell" "Even if you think he wronged you, don't try to question the situation, just love him regardless. Because he loves you. And he loves you because you love him. And if you don't, your going to hell"
This self righteous, ignorant attitude is what's going to "send you to hell" I'm so sick of the false teaching and moronic example shown by the church. Its like the Westboro baptist church filmed this. I beg you, please don't take ANYTHING said in this movie seriously, it almost seems as if it's main goal is to turn people off to even the idea of Christ.
Keep your mind open, realize there's a difference between faith and blind impulsive ignorant behavior, don't be afraid to question everything, even your faith. And realize God doesn't require you to be "bound to the rules" and live a perfect life to be accepted into heaven.
I'm only writing this article from a religious standpoint because really, that's what the movie was about.
I've yet to see a good rapture movie out there, but I can promise you (unless you actually like the idea of being stuck in spiritual chains) that this film will disappoint you and leave you with useless knowledge, and less money (if you payed to watch it)
Funny People (2009)
Depressing, unfunny and just plain boring
It was an interesting attempt, but meh. I started watching this movie expecting to get a lot of laughs from this all star cast but was sorely disappointed. Adam Sandler was depressing, dramatic, a complete arse hole and the entire cast around him hardly covered any comic relief to help endure it. not something id ever recommend.
I'm apparently supposed to fill up this review with ten lines of text to submit it, but i really cant find anything else to say about it. this was just a very disappointing, boring, glad for it to be over kind of movie. i thought id say SOMETHING about it since there are far too many good reviews on this movie. i really don't know how it got them but regardless, thats what i thought about it. semi interesting, but droll, and a huge waste of time. thankyou
Burn After Reading (2008)
What the hell did i just watch????
Watched this on a plane. Whyyyy didn't someone warn me. Just plain awful.
I really don't understand how a piece of crap like this can get anywhere near a 7 out of 10. I've watched A lot of movies in my time but i must say this was quite possibly the worst movie I've ever seen. i cant even begin to comprehend how anyone enjoyed this. it was long, dragged on forever. there wasn't one likable character, i hated the personalities of every single one. it had a garbage script, probably written by the director's kid. i seriously hated this movie with a passion and hated every second i wasted of my life watching this. i beg of you, please please please save yourself the money and the time and just stop even considering looking into this movie. i tried to help. you've been warned.
Dead Air (2009)
Finally, an GREAT zombie movie. One of my favs, a definite top 10
I've no clue what the bad reviews are about. i guess there will always be critics no matter how great a movie is.
It seems the more zombie flicks i try to find, the less appealing they get. this movie may not be as action packed as the typical zombie movie, but it does keep you very entertained. There are few characters, as it take place in a building with only about 4 or 5 people in it. though there are few, they are very likable.
The story takes place in a radio station where the sarcastic, nicely bearded radio host Logan does his show. He is in the middle of his show taking calls when he starts to get numerous calls about a disaster taking place at that very second. He of course ignores it as his show is about paranoia. but once the calls keep coming and he turns on his television, he starts to realize the magnitude of the situation and all of his co workers with him. throughout the movie you see either live recordings or television recordings of the zombies and people getting dismembered and devoured. Logan, along with his radio partner, keep the show running and keep taking calls trying to tell everyone whats going on, and get more information on the impending apocalypse.
I found this movie to have a little bit of everything. Its amazing actors and characters, plot, and emotion are what make me give it an 8 out of 10. There are, also, some pretty epic zombies. I recommend this movie to ANYONE who enjoys a slightly "edge of your seat" kind of movie where you stand by and experience the tragic zombie apocalypse with everyone else and the huge effect it has on the survivors.
