Into the Night (2020)
Waste of potential and your time
This show is really, really bad. I love the premise but the execution is simply horrible! Plot holes, incredibly dumb people, idiotic dialogs. I never could understand why some studios make stupid shows like this one. Characters behave in a way that makes you wonder - how did they survive in regular life? can people be that illogical? As a science fiction - there's no science, just some senseless mumbling of smart sounding words. If you are a 'wiping old people' type of nurse then you're good with conducting major surgery. If you're undergoing a major surgery you better be good to run exactly 5 min after it's done - the plane is not gonna wait for you, even though you're the only pilot... Just don't forget to wake up from anesthesia. If you graduated gender study at college - you're good to explain basically every aspect of astronomy, cosmology, electronics, and so on. I mean - school is school, right? And if you don't know something, for instance you want to check the history of any random person you encounter, what do you do? You go on instagram! what else! The world is gone but in words of one of the "scientists" on the plane - "I heard the internet servers work for a while before they shut down". Sure, why not. This is that kind of science fiction.
Ever Since the World Ended (2001)
Boring, leftist utopia
I wasted my time watching this piece and now I'm wasting reviewing. But I feel that people should be warned. If you are ideologically blinded hippie then this movie is for you. Otherwise it is not for you. Simple. It is an incredibly boring ode to hippies' view of the society, their utopian idea how the world would look like if they got rid of the government and the whole mankind. They create a new society filled with "professions" that don't serve any practical purpose, that wouldn't let this society survive for longer than a few weeks. If they're lucky. I don't want to put any spoilers here so I will leave it like that. Be warned though. If you expect some fascinating vision of a post-apocalyptic world - don't get your hopes too high.
America: The Story of Us (2010)
McDonald generation education
The beginning was actually quite promising. Unfortunately by the 5th episode I started wondering why I am wasting my time. Inaccurate, incredibly chaotic, choice of events that shape the nation and the country is at least stunning. Important events are omitted, completely useless events are presented as crucial for the history. All wrapped in a tale that a mom reads to her 4yo child to make him sleep. As somebody said - sesame street history.
I am disappointed. It's supposed to be targeted to young American kids but seriously I wouldn't want my kid to learn from such shows, it might be not that bad for foreigners for whom the real history of the US is not that important. It has very low educational value and not much higher entertaining value. Long story short - if you have nothing better to do then go ahead, watch it but bear in mind that it's not as much the exact history as the grandpa's tale for kids.
