My Norwegian Holiday (2023)
As a Norwegian...
...I am incredibly annoyed by other Norwegians being "offended" by this silly romance. Yeah, they got a lot of culture stuff wrong. A family so hung up in traditions, that they wear bunad at a wedding seremony, would NOT let the best man arrive to the reception in a sweater. For instance. They also got some surprising bits correct. The rivalry between Bergen and Trondheim, for instance. At least, it was well intended, completely without malice. The movie's greatest sin is that it's a rather bad movie, with wooden acting, boring cinematography, predictable plot and some strange casting choices. But Norwegians are generally not easily offended snowflakes.
Kadaver (2020)
A story would have been nice
If there had been a real story, with actual plot, twists and characters maybe this wouldn't have been so d**n boring. Visually, the young director is not without talents. Photography and editing also pretty much works fine. Try to get an actual manuscript next time.
Cobra Kai (2018)
Amazingly good
The world as middle aged men is even more difficult than for teenagers. Nothing is just black and white, every action has concequences, people's reactions are hard to predict. Who would ever have thought that Danny Larusso and Johnny Lawrence could convey this perfectly, with both a serious edge and a sense of fun? But they can! And for the old feelings, teenage angst, bullying and high school drama - and young love and friendship? You get that, too. The only thing missing is Mr Myagi, but his spirit is present.
Bone Tomahawk (2015)
B-movie content in quality wrapping
If you have stomach for extreme violence, this is pretty good. A simple, but exciting story, heightened by very good craftsmanship and excellent actors. All of them are putting in good work, but I'd say that Richard Jenkins comes out best. He turns what could have been a throwaway comic relief-character into an interesting, deep and real human that ends up as the movie's heart and driving force.
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019)
Closure and farewell
I thought at first that nobody needs this movie, the original ending was perfect. Then again, I thought nobody needed the prequel series either, and that turned out brilliant. El Camino is an entertaining, very well made epilogue. It brought me joy and closure. Unnecessary, perhaps, but much appreciated.
Exit (2019)
Kinda fun
Basically The Wolf of Wall Street in Oslo with thefts from a few other well-known movies and series thrown in. Points for some dark fun and entertaining plot twists. Good acting, smooth production. Minus points for stealing a bit too much and way too many boring monologues.
