Zero Chill (2021)
Awful, just awful
Terrible writing. Annoying and boring characters (Kayla is terrible), absolutely unrealistic (there are so many scenes where you feel secondhand embarassment for the writers and roll your eyes so hard). I criticized Spinning Out for not understanding figure skating but it looks like a masterpiece next to this. I guess the show is obsessed with making me believe that these "kids" are 15 because it's a very important age for skaters (most Russian girls or very talented skaters like Yuzuru Hanyu become senior at 15) but honestly those kids are terrible skaters, they can't even win anything at novice level, no wonder the family of Kayla's partner didn't want her.
Maybe if you are 12 and you suddenly developed an interest for figure skating, then maaaaaybe you can enjoy this. But don't justify the terrible writing by saying this is for children. Children are not stupid and there are a lot of content for them out there with good writing. Nothing like this...
Messi (2014)
The Greatest
As a big Messi fan (who actually support Sevilla), I was not so excited about this movie. I read his biography (both Caioli and Balague's books), I watch his every matches. So I thought to myself "there won't be anything new" but I watched the movie last night and I was touched by it.
It as really amazing seeing his friends, former teammates and coaches and everyone else.
It's always nice to watch or listen the story of a legend. How a little kid with ghd became a legend?
We all know Messi the Footballer but seeing people who know about him since his childhood made me learn few things about Leo the Person. And it was amazing. We, fans, always want to learn more about people we admire, our idols. We want to know more about their lives. And Álex de la Iglesia (with Jorge Valdano) did a great job here.
Messi, with his intelligence, his speed, his skills and his personality, is simply the greatest player ever.
Well done!
