This didn't quite end as satisfyingly as it could have done, but technically it's impressive from start to finish. The direction and cinematography are outstanding. Every shot is so precise, the pacing so measured, the editing so clinical.... as a result generating an atmosphere thick with unease and paranoia.
'You'll Never Find Me' features just two characters - a reclusive man and a mysterious female stranger - in a single location: a mobile home. A storm rages overhead, lashing the place with wind and rain to increase our angst whilst the pair engage in simple but compelling conversation, always trying to suss each other out, with the sharp screenplay and superb performances throwing our suspicions back and forth about the true nature of the pair whilst we anticipate a shocking revelation or inevitable violence.
It's basically a slow-burn arthouse treat, just falling short of true greatness at the end after such a meticulous and tense build up, but still well worth a watch for horror aficionados or fans of cerebral thrillers.
7/10.
