An Amish Murder (2013 TV Movie)
8/10
Based on the Kate Burkholder books by Linda Castillo
26 January 2024
I have read the first half of this book series. There is so much that isn't in the movie, but it is a very good movie, well worth the watch.

Even better, the books are an excellent read and worth the time to read them. I lost my source to them in 2014, but she had one a year through 2023. If only more of them were translated into movies!

The characters are well done, and while not a lot is explained about the Amish community in the movie, the books do an excellent job of expanding understanding of this proud community.

The writer of this series, If I remember correctly is also an Amish person that left that community.

WHY was this not a TV series?
8 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
OMG! This was a fantastic movie! WHY is it not a TV series? I found the books, but I want to SEE more! Love the dog, so sorry about Henri. Sam is great! I want more, more more!

I guess I'll have to read the books to find out what happens, but if this had been the pilot for a series, I'd have been there to watch it. One of the best sci-fi movies I've seen in years!

But then I also loved Roswell, and Witchblade too, and this was better than Witchblade, and done like this movie was, a series would have been better than Roswell too.

I have no idea how this was NOT liked, and to think that I watched it by accident on Hulu...

I loved the animated version
18 May 2023
But in this instance, the live action with Emma Watson was very good. They made an excellent choice in her as Belle. The beast, when he turned human again, was a little too pretty for my tastes though. Gaston was as obnoxious as ever in both movies. The dresser was a bit over the top but still funny.

Unless a live action remake can be better than the original animated version, I see no need for a live version to be made. On Broadway, sure. But just to remake for the sake of remaking is very redundant.

Basically if it's not broken, don't try to "fix" it.

But this version was saved by Emma Watson, who made it a good movie.

I liked the cartoon Robin Williams better!
18 May 2023
The action was good in the live action version... BUT... Robin Williams was better than anyone else could be as the Genie.

The cartoon one was that, but the voice and ad libs from Robin Williams will NEVER be beat by any other person. Jasmine in this one was attractive, the story line was ALMOST the same, the sets were great... But for ME, Robin Williams MADE that movie!

Rajah was really cool, but I missed the late Gilbert Gottfried as the bird's voice.

Jaffar did not look oily and villainous in this, in my opinion. And the cave of wonders was just not as exciting here.

I'll stick with the animated version.

I did like Abu and the rug in this one.

Talk about OVER-ACTING!
12 May 2023
The book by Mary Stewart is suspenseful and drastically different! Not to mention 1000x better! Mills seems to be the master of overacting in this tragedy of a "movie".

Anyone who has watched this dreadful script should read the ACTUAL book, which is filled with suspense, drama, and an excellent story line. No one in it is hysterical all the time. Lambis is a good guy. Sophia has no children. And Stratos and Gamble are not melodramatic creepy. The ONLY thing to recommend this movie is the scenery of Crete.

The book has a calm Aunt Frances, who is actually a collector of plants. The church is Byzantine, and you get the full story of the legend of the Moon Spinners.

Megalodon (2018 TV Movie)

From the first minute

I know this was NOT the movie I was looking for.... But then it was like a train wreck where it only became worse and worse, but you couldn't look away. Having had two sisters and a brother in the Navy, I knew this was NOT even close to correct. And it opened THREE days after "The Meg".... because that is how long it took to shoot this appalling nightmare that should have been SHOT! This waste of film had guns by Mattel, a cardboard boat in someone's pool, and I found myself cheering for the cardboard shark!

Dark Matter: Nowhere to Go (2017)
Season 3, Episode 13

I love Dark Matter.

But you ended it abruptly, with no resolution. You didn't even have the decency to just kill them all for an ending. It was a fantastic show that was axed by ignorant studio execs who care nothing for the feelings or loyalty of the fans. Even the most basic utility android has more feelings than the studio. I watched because of the connections to SG-1 and Atlantis, but loved the darkly gritty show for its self and the characters. Actions like you pulled in this are the reason I no longer watch new shows and there certainly isn't a SciFi show out there worth my time.
