Green Lantern (2011)
4/10
Green Lantern's light is not too bright... just bright enough.
20 June 2011
So, I saw this over the weekend, and I'll say that I don't think it's as bad as most of the critics made it out to be... Maybe that's the reason I enjoyed the movie? All those horrible reviews got my expectations lowers... or maybe it just simply wasn't as bad as most had suggested in general. Not to say that the movie was perfect. This is no Dark Knight or Iron Man. Not even close.

Firstly, I think the casting in this film was really good. Ryan Reynolds was perfect as Hal Jordan, Mark Strong was amazing as always as Sinestro, and I didn't think Blake Lively was that bad as the love interest. Peter Sarsgaard was also great, I just thought his character Hector Hammond was a bit too weird for my tastes... but I guess that was the point?

The story was pretty much your simple superhero origin story, which is not a bad thing, considering this is Green Lantern. I can see future sequels going to the next level if this film does well in the box-office. It seemed the writers wanted to make a simple story for the first film to get the origin out of the way, so it would give them more freedom on where to take the character in other films.

the SFX were top notch. I know many people that complained about the suit being in CGI, but I thought it was an interesting idea from the beginning. It gave the suit an "aline-ish" feel to it, which is what the suit was supposed to be, right?

The movie did have it's problems though. The pacing of the film could be much better and score wasn't memorable like John Williams Superman score or badass like Hans Zimmer's The Dark Knight. It's very forgettable. I also thought the two main villains were pretty weak and not as interesting as villains like The Joker, Lex Luthor, Doc Ock, Magneto, etc.

Again, hopefully the problems in this film, will help improve the quality of the next Green Lantern film, if there is one. I hope so. Though, for Green Lantern, i'd have to admit it's only worth renting.... unless you're a crazed superhero fan such as myself!

We're rooting for you DC! It would be nice to get more DC superheroes other then Batman or Superman!

Amazing and emotional Batman film.
3 August 2010
I thought this movie was very well done and well written. Defiantly one of the best that Bruce Timm and his team have done so far. Though, I really wish Mark Hamill would've voiced the Joker. I can totally see him owning this performance and could've topped his "Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker" if he did.

Bruce Greenwood was actually very good as Batman. I actually wasn't sure if I was going to like him, because I was re-watching the new Star Trek film recently and was wondering how he was going to pull it off. There are actually moments when he almost did sound like Kevin Conroy.

I also have to say something about Jensen Ackles. The dude is totally talented. The final moment with Batman, Joker and Jason was great and it's because all 3 actors pulled it off greatly... especially Jensen. Hopefully we'll hear him in some future animated projects in the future. He can really pull off those dramatic roles.

Superman has returned!
4 July 2006
after almost 20 years away from the big screen, the Man of Steel is back! I haven't been a huge fan of Superman (I'm a bigger Batman fan) but I have always enjoyed the Christopher Reeve's Superman films. (Well, except 4) Brandon Routh takes over as Superman and does an incredible job. He reminds me s much of Christopher Reeves but at the same time, brings something new.

The film is much darker then I was expecting. It's lighter then Batman Begins, but it's darker then Spider-Man... but even then, there are moments where the movie does get a little darker the Batman Begins... The film is very dramatic and emotional and it's not really your normal average superhero film. It's more less action and more on story.

Anyways, I enjoyed the film a lot and I really hope Bryan Singer brings in a villain who could hit Superman without using Kryptonite in the next film.

Spider-Man 2 (2004)

A movie that captures the heart of the comic
9 March 2006
Spider-Man 2 is a great sequel to the original. When I first saw the original Spider-Man film, I didn't feel it was that great. Something was missing. Spider-Man 2 on the other hand turned out to be great. It really captured the heart of the character.. and I think Doc Ock turned out to be a much better villain then the Green Goblin.

In the movie, Peter Parker decides if he should continue to fight for good... and eventually, he throws in the towel... or in this case, his costume. I thought it was a great plot to put in the movie and it really helped make Spider-Man a more real character. A lot of people do compare the plot of the movie to Superman 2... in a way I kinda agree, but they do make enough changes to make Spider-Man 2 much better.

a good IL' alien invasion movie
30 June 2005
War Of The Worlds is not one of Spielberg's best, but it's not his worst. Despite what some people say about the movie, it is a good sci-fi/action flick. The special effects in this movie is amazing. Some of the best since Lord Of The Rings and much more realistic then the effects in the Star Wars preqels.

Some people complain that Tom Cruise ruined the movie, but I thought he was pretty good. It really doesn't matter what people say because Tom Cruise is a good actor. I did find Dakota Fanning sometimes annoying... I just felt like throwing her out a window or something... maybe that's what Spielberg wanted, who knows? Anyways, I give this movie a 7/10.

From the small screen, to the big screen.
27 June 2005
6 teenagers are chosen by Zordon and are given powers to fight the evil of Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd. I was only 10 years old when Mighty Morphin Power Rangers first hit the air in 1993. It was my favorite show beck then... and it still is one of my favorite kid shows today. (Yes, I watch all the new seasons!) The reason I loved it was because of the cool characters, cool looking costumes and awesome looking zords. Who never wanted a Zord action-figure when they were a kid? Everyone I know had one! 2 years later, before Season 3 aired on TV, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie came out. I loved it when I was a kid and I still enjoy it today. Sure, it's no acdemy award winner... and will never be as good as other superhero movies like Batman Begins or Spider-Man 2, but Power Rangers is aimed for kids anyways.

Batman (1989)
7/10
Classic
23 June 2005
In 1989, Tim Burton created the very first Batman movie with great stars like Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson. The Joker is definitely one of Hollywood's best villains on screen. Jack Nicholson was born for the role, with his psychotic and sick look. Michael Keaton is also great as Batman and is pretty good as Bruce Wayne. Kim Basinger is kind of annoying at times, but she's not the worst damsel in distress ever seen on screen.

Tim Burton has a unique way of doing Batman, and I think most people can agree that it fits the characters and the story. To bad Warner Bros. got rid of him after the 2nd film.

The ending for a great Saga
19 June 2005
It's been a great ride. I was only born when Return of the Jedi came out to theaters so I never got to see any of the originals in theaters... until 1997, I saw Star Wars: A New Hope when it was re-released. That's when I fell in love with Star Wars. Great characters, action, and the special effects were great for it's time.

In 1999, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace came out, the first prequel in the series. Unlike some people, I loved it! It was great to see a new Star Wars movie in theaters again... Even though Attack of the Clones wasn't as good, Revenge of the Sith brings back the magic. The drama, action, special effects, and Ewan McGregor were great... Seriously, Ewan McGregor deserves a nomination for his role as Obi-Wan.

Sure, the film has some cheesy scenes and cheesy diaolog... but every Star Wars does. Just like Lord of the Rings, it's very sad to see the saga end. Good work George. Your saga is complete.

Batman Begins.... Again
19 June 2005
After the success of Blade, X-Men and Spider-Man, the Marvel films were taking over the big screen. In 2004, Warner Bros. released the first DC Comics film, Catwoman. Well... let's just say that didn't go well.

But now DC Comics and Warner Bros. have striked back with an incredible movie: Batman Begins! This movie tells the story of how Bruce Wayne becomes Batman. When the movie starts, it is nothing like any comic book film before it. It's something completely different. The look of the film is more realistic then any other Batman movie could be... This is Batman, Unlike the other Batman movies which is just an ordinary man in a Batman costume. This movie shows why Bruce Wayne took the symbol of the bat to strike fear in criminals and the reason he does what he does.

Sure, this movie won't win any academy awards, but it does deserve nominations.

The Return of Jafar (1994 Video)

Not Bad, Not Bad At All
6 August 2004
This was one of the first Disney sequals... It was one that turned out pretty good, but now Disney is going overboard. The Return Of Jafar was basicly the pilot for the TV show and it started it perfectly. Everyone is back, except for Robin Williams because of some disagreement. The story it pretty good and the songs are ok.

It's great seeing Aladdin, Genie and the rest in action again, because in my opinion, Aladdin (1993), is one of the best Disney films ever to be released.

The only thing I'm mad about is all these other sequals. If Disney is going to make sequals to their films, at least TRY to make them good. The only good Disney sequals I've seen Return Of Jafar, The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride, and Return To Neverland.

Brother Bear (2003)

Disney Continues It's Magic
1 April 2004
Brother Bear is a prefect Disney film that makes a great Disney movie. I thought this is one of Disney's best. It's very sad to see a company get rid of hand drawn animation, because they are so good at it. Brother Bear has a great and touching story with lovable charecters. The 2 Moose are the best in the movie. There is a lot of dramatic moments and a lot of fun moments. Kids will love this movie as well as adults. Hopefully one day, The Walt Disney Company will remember it's roots and continue hand drawn animation.

Computer animation is great, but Brother Bear proves that hand drawn animation is also great. I don't think a lot of us want to think of cheesy animated sequals. I think all of us want more great animated movies like Brother Bear, Aladdin, The Lion King and a lot of others.

Looney Tunes: They Way They Are Ment To Be
24 November 2003
This was a great Looney Tunes movie. I was really worried at first because I thought this movie would be something like Space Jam. But this movie really surprised me, the voices were much better, the jokes were funnier... and the acting was better. I think having REAL actors are much better then sport starts (no offence to all those sport lovers out there)

Just like most people say, Daffy Duck does steal the movie, and it really makes people appreciate him a lot more. Bugs Bunny is always cool and the other Looney Tunes make small appearences... even Scooby-Doo and Shagy (who are not Looney Tunes).

It's a shame that this movies is not doing well in the theaters like Space Jam did. This movie deserves a lot more.

A Great Ending For An Amazing Trilogy
8 November 2003
The Matrix Revolutions is an awesome ending for the Matrix. The special effects in this movie are so great, it blew my mind, and I don't really care for those kinds of things. The fight scenes in this movie are also great and sometimes a little intense, especially the last fight with Neo fighting Agent Smith. As with the first movie, Keanu Reeves is cool as Neo… and Hugo Weaving gives his best performance as Agent Smith in this movie.

I am really confused at what the first 5 bozos who posted were talking about. This is a great sequel and conclusion to the Matrix. This is David, signing off.

Worst Of All The Batman: Animated Movies
3 November 2003
I am a back Batman movie and TV fan. I loved the show (new and old) and I loved all the movies. But this movie is not as great as some people were hopeing it to be. In my opinon, it is a big let down. I think the problem was it had no drama. Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm and Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker had a lot of drama. and Batman & Mr. Freeze: Sub Zero had some drama too. Also, I think this movie is to light for Batman. The only scene that seems a little dark is the big fight with Bane at the end. Anyways, it's an ok Batman movie. But I would just rent it.

One Of The Greatest Batman Movie's Today
1 November 2003
Animated or not, this is still one of the best Batman movies to this day. Great action, story, mystery and characters, this movie brings everything that makes a great Batman movie. Just like most people here say, Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are great at doing the voices of Batman and Joker. Whenever I think of Batman or Joker, I always think of Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill.

It's great to see the cops finally turn on Batman in this movie and finally we see the Joker get a little more deadly in this movie, unlike some of the early Batman: The Animated Series episodes.

I would like to reccomend this movie to anyone who loves Batman and anyone who doesn't care about Batman. In my opinion, any Batman fan or non Batman fan will love or like this movie.

Pirates For The 21st Century
27 September 2003
Pirates Of The Caribbean is a great movie. It has enjoyable comedy, action, and of couse... acting!!! I have to agree with everyone that Johnny Depp is a great actor. To tell you the truth this is the first Johnny Depp movie I thought was amazing and I can't wait until it comes on DVD so I can add to my movie collection. Disney has finally made a great live action movie since Who Framed Roger Rabbit (Which was also PG-13). I can't wait until they make a sequal to this..... but it better be good not like those stupid sequals that Disney does to most it's Disney classics.
