I don't think my mouth is big enough!
18 March 2011
I first saw the 1974 version of the "Holliwood story" but I've enjoyed it only because Barbra was in. It sort of bored me at a point. Than I finally decided I would watch the, maybe most, famous one with Garland. Well, what a difference! I don't want to spoil anything so I'm just going to praise this jewel. This movie is a masterpiece in every way, from the direction to the acting and the costumes and the scenes...everything is grand. Garland gave all of herself in every scene and led me to tears in most of them. When I knew there was James Mason as the male lead I thought "what a strange couple!" But God the feeling they have, I could have never imagined. They're just perfect together. You can see it in one scene in particular where she says "I don't think my mouth is big enough!". That moment is real, and what gives you that sense of loss all during the movie. Something is going to happen and the disease slowly and inexorably advances. It's not the ordinary musical...

Found myself crying like an idiot...I love old-fashioned romances
15 February 2011
There's nothing I can say....usual sentimental torture...Gosh I love this stuff! Some will find it a bit old-fashioned in timing and plot. I'm maybe old-fashioned myself, but I think the story is very beautiful. Ginger Rogers is (she's one of my favorites!) really good, a very underrated actress of that time...she could do anything and do it fine, with class and elegance. A real dramatic performer. Haven't seen Cotten before, he's a fine actor too! I like his reflective way of acting, the postures he takes when the voice comes in his head, which is a good idea of the director I guess...very effective, drags you into the character's inner feelings. They make a fine couple! But the real surprise is a grown Shirley Temple, whom can carry herself very well in drama too, a bit too exaggerate in the gestures, sometimes too simpering, after all she's an adolescent, but very good indeed! In the end I highly recommend this movie to everyone who hasn't seen it yet. For me (remember, I'm old-fashioned) rating is 10/10!

I'm putting all my eggs in one basket.....

Warning: Spoilers
Absolutely charming...one of the best Astaire-Rogers' movies. Although this time they're former lovers, so the flame of passion rises up again dancing together their old steps (of course the word marriage is mentioned several times....we're still in the 30s after all). The story is always very light, but you surely don't look for drama in this kind of movies, and if you do, well go somewhere else! relax yourself and enjoy the entertainment 'cause it's going to be very amusing! I found the choreographies much more articulated this time (!)....Rogers has improved her dancing skills and she can finally keep up to Astaire's dexterity and experience....the scene on the boat, the one in which they're "trying" some new figures is just hilarious...and ouch! Ginger really falls down! she must have hurt herself the poor girl, considering they certainly have rehearsed that a billion times! here you can see what great performer they were, not only athletically but theatrically... beyond any other!

Great entertainment!!!!
2 February 2011
One of the best Ginger Rogers' movies....She proves to be a complete actress indeed, not only just a dancer (even if she was so talented!). The story and the script are witty and they work, not a bit of boredom, counting on the fact that certain things weren't quite disputable then. A "solo" mother was rather to blame....the movie brings in to question a tabù and it's done with class. It keeps a particular far-sighted way of seeing things they had in the late 30s....on my opinion of course. But they lost it after the war. Anyway about Rogers...well, she's great! Niven is one of my favourite actors and together they make a very fine couple....unusual but fine. Must see it! I highly recommend it

Will & Grace (1998–2020)
10/10
I've grown up with this show!
2 November 2010
Will & Grace represents the essence of my teens. I've been watching that show over and over and I've never got bored. Even now I can see the same episode like fifteen times it will make me laugh as if it was the first. The subject was very delicate when they first aired on TV. Homosexuality wasn't and still, alas, isn't something to talk about in television...of course I'm talking about my country. I hope that in America things are becoming different. Anyway.....The writing is exceptional and the cast is flawless. Sean Hayes (simply spectacular) sometimes brings me to tears for laughing and Mullally's performances are beyond acting...I can't even look at her anymore without seeing Karen Walker! Eric McCormack is the perfect Will. It's such a difficult character...the thread of the story actually, always keeping everything together. And my total admiration goes to Debra Messing. I knew her in other series (prey was great!) and movies, and she's a very good actress...but Grace is just a masterpiece! All messy and sooo gross! But still tender and full of love and true... I highly recommend this sitcom to those who accidentally didn't get the chance to see it....It's part of television history now! Two thumbs up!

Prey (1998)

very very very good! want it back!
5 October 2010
I don't usually watch sci-fi series, but I was told Debra Messing was in a good show before "Will & Grace" so I searched for it. Well...Prey actually is a good programme! I managed to have all of the episodes of the only series and I really enjoyed watching them. It's a shame they didn't make other seasons. This show had a lot of potentials ad was very gripping! And I didn't like they interrupted it so brutally either! Wander how they make their choices at ABC.... I'm from Italy and we didn't even have the chance to have it aired on TV. What if they made a sequel now? Would it be so weird? I just want to know what happened right after!
