Harry's Law (2011)
Wonderfully creative and entertaining show
I'm not sure what show the other reviewer was watching because Harry's Law was fantastic. I am a huge fan of Kathy Bates so maybe I am not entirely impartial but I found this show to be clever, witty, intelligent and very entertaining.
The other reviewer had way too many expectations from one episode. It was just the pilot. This is where we ARE suppose to find out about the characters and so the focus was rightfully towards them. Yes the 'You're out of order' speech is something we have heard before, but that was the point. He was trying to point out just how stupid the case was and succeeded. Kathy Bates character managed to get in 2 accidents, defend a client, hire staff, meet the locals and find more new clients. Sounds like she did a heck of a lot to me. More than the girl whose only focus was on shoes.
I loved Harry's courtroom speech. It really showed her talent. I was also impressed by all the other actors. All characters were very believable and likable and I look forward to watching them every week. I very rarely openly laugh at a show and this was one time I did. Twice. I smiled, I cheered and I was impressed. This show is highly entertaining and anyone who didn't catch it missed out. I hope that Harry's Law will be around for awhile cause I see myself loving it thoroughly.
The Event (2010)
Not nearly as good as Flash Forward
After the end of Lost there was lots of talk about the next show that was going to replace it. There were several options which included Flash Forward, Persons Unknown and The Event. I became a huge fan of Flash Forward until it was cancelled mid season for low ratings. Now watching The Event which was said to be even better than any other show I can say I am truly let down. The Event was given a prime time slot and has a good following but its choppy and doesn't grab your attention like Flash Forward and Persons Unknown did.
My bone is that Flash Forward was given a crappy time slot and was aired while Lost was still on. Then mid season it was postponed due to the olympics. Then when it came back on it was in an even worse time slot than before and no advertising barely at all to tell ppl where to find it. It feels like this outstanding show was never given a chance, not even a shot to gather viewers. Yet this crappy show called the event is advertised everywhere and basically being force fed viewers.
Flash Forward got you interested from the word go. There was a lot going on but it was not confusing or choppy like the event is. You quickly got absorbed in the story and cared about the outcome with an interesting premise about knowing your own future. The show was brilliant in its plot and delivery and its a shame it got cancelled. On top of that V (another alien show) with less viewers was somehow not cancelled. So now there is V a crappy alien show and The Event another slightly less crappy alien show.
What happened to intelligent TV. Oh right, it gets cancelled without being given a fair chance. This is why ppl watch lame, no thought required TV like jersey shore, or the many housewives of (Name a city, any city). We as viewers need to expect better from broadcasters. Don't let them get rich off shows that promote stupidity.
