The Godfather (1972)

A true masterpiece
8 January 2011
This film is excellent in every way possible. It contains superb acting, directing, writing and is an all round great film.

It includes family values, but in a violent and protective way. It is very thrilling, violent, informative and it moves at a good pace.

The film has many things, one of which is values. The Godfather balances everything crucial in a film. It is violent, but not an action; it is touching, but not a romance; it includes family values, but is not a family film; it includes all of these and becomes a crime/drama.

It's a must see. Francis Ford Coppola's masterpiece. Also see The Godfather: Part II, The Conversation, Apocalypse Now, The Godfather: Part III and of course, his final outstanding film effort, Bram Stoker's Dracula.

The Aunty Jack Show (1972–1973)
10/10
Fantastic

Fantastic. I was blown away when I saw this and finally found the true potential of Australian comedy.

I myself am working on a sitcom and have been very much influenced by this classic Aussie sketch comedy.

It has rhythm and a certain beat and manages to keep everything related and interesting. It was hilarious!

Grahame Bond is fantastic as the rude yet surprisingly sensitive Aunty Jack. Rory O'Donoghue is incredible as Thin Arthur, the well spoken, thin - hence the name - character. Garry McDonald plays Kid Eager, who is also very good, though I have not had a chance to see much of his episodes. John Derum was always my favourite as Narrator Neville. The actors all also play various other characters in various, hilarious sketches. Sandra McGregor was brilliant (I can't believe I nearly forgot her).

I recommend this classic that's not afraid to do something different, and still keeps it very funny. The Aunty Jack Show is a refreshing jolt that is a reminder of what Australian comedy can do. This classic is much better than some of the sh*t (excuse my french)that is televised today.

Utterly fantastic and a must see for people with a satirical taste in comedy. Great, and appropriate, acting, as well as writing. Do not miss this if you have the chance.

Brilliant, touching and confronting
29 December 2010
This film displays outstanding portrayals of different characters, a clever and touching screenplay and fantastic cinematography.

Acting: A young Natalie Portman performs with skill and grace. Jean Reno played a touching yet secretive hit-man brilliantly. Gary Oldman is cold and heartless and does it with ease.

Plot: The plot is executed fantastically. The ending is touching, but action-packed and is thankfully not the least bit soapy or sappy.

A fantastic film that graces the screen with elegance and poise, and does not disappoint action fans. 'Leon: The Professional' is truly a film for almost anyone. 'The Professional' is very professional indeed.
